Savannah's POV:
I cant help but notice the bad things in life. It starts off good but, it slowly starts to go wrong. Since I'm the magnet in life that soaks in all bad things, it's all I have and its definitely all I notice.
I'm Savannah Grey but my friends calls Flash. I'm a runner so I guess that name makes sense. I have dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. I'm not too popular. I have my small group of friends, five to be exact. I don't typically eat with them at lunch but I do go elsewhere to my favorite place to draw. Anyway, I go to Lakeview High, senior year. I never really want to go... I just have to.
"Savannah! Let's go!" My dad's voice called up the stairs. I checked my hair in the mirror, and applied a little more makeup. I slid on my blue converse and grabbed my bag. "Savannah!" He yelled again. I sighed quickly running downstairs. He handed me my usual cup of coffee and we were off. Yes, I'm a senior, and I drive. It's just that dad and I don't spend much time together so he drives me to and from school. "You're going to rock the rest of this year out right?" He asked as we drove down the road. I smiled. "Of course dad! I'll bring home an A+ test today too!" I said letting the huge grin sit upon my face.
We turned down the last road before we were finally there. "Alright! Knock 'em dead." Dad smiled kissing my cheek. I hugged him and checked my hair before leaving. I headed straight for the big oak tree out in the court yard. I always met my friends there. But today was different. They weren't there, some new guy was. I stood there looking around for them and I spotted them. I guess our new spot was the maple tree by the football field. "Dice!" I yelled. I ran over to him as he stood up. Dice's real name was Jackson. He was just awfully good at taking chances and risking everything. "Hey Flash!" He smiled hugging me. "So what's the plan today?" He asked me. "I say we cut last period and just go hang out with everyone else. " I smiled.
He shrugged. "Why not right?" I looked around and only Dana was there. "Where is everyone?" I asked. He shrugged. "They probably are cutting the rest of the day." Dice replied with a smile. "Well, if you want you can go... I can't. My dad and my grades. I can cut earlier than last period though. I could cut fifth period." I smiled back. He shrugged. "It's fine. I'd rather not fail anyways. Last period is perfect."
I hugged him and waved to Dana. "I'll see you last period alright?" I said before leaving him. Once I got to my locker the same guy who took my tree was now next to my locker. It's not that any of it was a big deal, it's just unique to us considering the one and only rose on the entire thing. I huffed loudly as I opened my locker. "Bad day?" The boy asked.
I didn't answer. "Don't talk much? Eh, well I'm Luke." He said.
I looked at him and rolled my eyes. "Are you mad at me?" He asked. I grabbed my biology books and slammed my locker shut. "Biology? I'm going there too! Lead the way!" He smiled. I huffed before starting my way to biology ignoring the fact that he was talking to me. When I walked in Mrs. Stanton had out her seating chart.
"We're getting new seats so no need today. Just line up around the edges." Stanton said as the rest of the class came in. She closed the door locking out any late students. "Alright... In the back row we will have Hannah, Dustin and Cassie." She said pointing to the seats. They all smiled at each other considering they're all best friends. I leaned against the wall knowing that Jackson was in the hall because he was late, and that I definitely wouldn't be next to him. I zoned out until I heard my name. It was in the second to last row and I saw Luke head that way too.
"Great." I groaned before sitting down. Luke smirked at me. I didn't pay any attention to him, but to the fact all the late students were finally let in. "Jackson I'm seating you next to Savannah. If you talk too much or aren't getting work done, one of you is moving." She said sternly. I smiled at Jackson as he sat down.
"Hey! You're the chump that stole our tree!" Jackson joked as he looked at Luke. I however never want to talk to him. "Your tree?" He asked. "Yeah. The big oak tree! We always meet there but we're not big on conflict and I knew Savannah would just make us find a different spot no matter how much it bothered her." He said smiling at me. "Me and the guys I hang around with can just move." Luke said with a small smile.
That's when I turned to face him. "It's not going to be that easy! The guys you hang with are jerks and they knew that tree was mine. It's where my friends and I go for a reason. And now that they've got it...They won't move." I said annoyed with him.
I get that Luke didn't do anything... He honestly didn't have to. Most of the new guys to this school hang around the jerks and then become jerks. "I'll talk to them..." Luke trailed off. Mrs. Stanton gave everyone a packet to work on within their groups. "You've all got until the end of class to turn these in. If you need to research anything you may use your phones to do so." She said before leaving to make a copy of the papers for the year end trip. It's not for another four months but she is highly prepared.
"Alright...Lets get to work I guess." I said flipping to the first page. We worked until the end of the hour like we were supposed to but we didn't finish the whole thing. "I'll just hand it in tomorrow." We all said in sync before leaving. I was walking alongside Luke and Jackson when a group of girls came up to us.. Well Luke. "Ew, we don't hang out with these freaks. Come on Luke... It's study hall time!" A blonde said pulling him away. We weren't even hanging out.
I rolled my eyes and Jackson followed me to my locker. "Lets just go now." He smiled. I sighed and grabbed my bag. "I'll tell dad that I was in the nurses office all day if he checks today." I smiled slamming it shut. We ran through the soccor field and down the road to 'Benny's Burgers.'
