"i scream out of frustration,
but the empty air echoes."
- tomorrow- - -
the senior set his backpack upon the floor by the edge of his bed. his suitcase full of clothes and other personal belongings was already empty, as the maids who worked in the luxurious school organized them an hour before his arrival. to say that taehyung was anxious was an understatement — the boy was sweating and his heart set at a fast pace, he had never been in a school like this before. for a majority of his life, he had been homeschooled or placed at an expensive institution in the city.
readjusting his shirt collar and the rolex on his wrist for the fifth time in an hour, a nervous habit he had picked up from business meetings, taehyung tapped his foot on the wooden floor of his dorm room. yes, he was residing within a dorm. with a roommate. the thought of sharing a room with someone made taehyung want to vomit, talk about having no privacy.
if taehyung was going to be honest though, the dorm room was nice. not as nice as his multimillion-dollar home or even his upscale vacation penthouse outside the country, but still pleasant. the dorm, more like large apartment, had gigantic windows with plenty of natural light flooding into the room. dark wooden floors and creme walls made the place feel refreshing, and the king-sized beds on opposite sides of the room with fluffy pillows and white sheets complimented the atmosphere.
taehyung spent the hour before he had to attend class by looking around his dorm room, which included two master bathrooms, one for each person residing in the room, and a small yet beautiful modern kitchen and a decently-sized living room too. a small spiral staircase was on the balcony outside, leading up to the roof of the building. with ten minutes before the daily mass was supposed to start, taehyung decided to head to the cathedral nearby on campus.
it was located on the top of a hill by the school building and dorm rooms, with a stone pathway leading to the entrance. the colorful stain-glassed windows reflected in the sun beautifully, and a cross was proudly showcased on the roof. taehyung followed the path, noticing a small garden on the outside of the cathedral, with flowers, fruits, and vegetables being grown and likely maintained by the gardeners.
huh, like a garden of eden, taehyung thought, laughing quietly at his own terrible joke. the senior had never been to church. his family wasn't even religious, and neither cared anything about the presence of some almighty being nor an afterlife. however, he did take an interest toward historical art a few years earlier, so he learned a bit about biblical themes and metaphors.
before taehyung could even open the doors to the cathedral, they were already being opened from the inside. two altar boys in matching gowns, who looked a few years younger than him, had opened the doors for him and bowed respectfully as he walked inside. the senior smiled kindly while they led him to the dark brown wooden pews.
