I don't really know what to say. See it's hard... being new. You are unfamiliar with everyone and everything. All those people were impossible to read. As I stood on stage looking out at them, they're blank; emotionless. That's everyone except the owner... Mr T. You could read him like a book.
He always seemed mad, at someone or something. The whole time i was up there, he simply gave me some deep, thoughtful glare- presumably meaning he was observing my every move.Though I wasn't really looking at him.
I'd scanned the room and seen a lot of faces but one was particularly special. One tall boy, stood alone with his back against the wall, listening but not looking, smiling but not laughing.
I didn't know who he was.
But while he stared at the ground, I saw my opportunity to focus on him. Before I knew it, an applause echoed around the room and i was led through the crowd and into a space at the back.
'Is anyone still left to audition?' came a voice. Everyone looked around, and a few eyes set on him.'Um, yeah,' he murmured, so quietly that not even the people beside him heard. As he pulled out his electric guitar, Mr T stepped down from the stage, declaring the auditions officially over.
Desperately, he rushed up the steps and positioned himself in front of the microphone.
'Didn't you hear? The auditions are over,' said Mr T, sharply.
'I heard,' he replied, 'but I'm not missing this chance.'He adjusted his guitar strap and cleared his throat, whilst Mr T walked back into the crowd, gritting his teeth and awaiting the end of his performance before it had even begun.
'I'm... I'm Luke,' he said, placing his shaky hands onto his guitar. I could almost feel his nerves and I wished I could've helped in some way, instead of being another one of those intimidating audience members.
He took a deep breath, took out his pick and began to play. The riff, the lyrics... he'd clearly put something of his own together for the occasion.
I was impressed.
