"Hello?"
"Hi Sydney."
"Hi Connor."
"Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas."
"So we need to talk."
"Yeah. I know. I have to explain..."
"No. I'm going to talk first."
"Oh. Alright."
"This whole long distance thing is just becoming too much for me. I don't know if you're with another guy, I don't know if you're doing anything with anyone else, I don't know if you have a secret relationship with your roommate. I don't know any of this, because I'm not there. And you have this adult life, which is far different from mine, and I just--"
"You want me to come back?"
"That's not what I said."
"Because I've been considering it."
"You...what?"
"Yeah. I was kicked out of my apartment today. I don't think that Lucy was forgiving of the fact that I was allegedly all over her new boyfriend. And she calls the shots around here. So much for my new friends."
"Was Justin kicked out too?"
"Not yet."
"Ah. So that makes you want to move back? What about the orchestra?"
"I don't think I have the energy to keep Amy from continuously sabotaging me for the rest of the season."
"Okay."
"So can I tell you what happened?"
"I guess so."
"That video that Amy posted on Twitter, of two people making out? That wasn't me and Justin. In fact, I honestly think that was Amy and someone that agreed to help her destroy me. It wouldn't be hard, she has minions everywhere."
"Minions?"
"Yeah. She's an evil witch so she had minions."
"I see."
"So I don't know what was going on, because I was drunk, but I'm absolutely positive that I was not the girl in that video. I didn't touch a single person that entire night. Or any night, for that matter."
"I want to believe you."
"Then believe me."
"But I can't! I don't know what to think and I don't know what to believe. That video was dark so I don't know if your story is true. You seem incredibly close with your roommates, so that's another red flag. And Lucy didn't give you a chance to explain yourself, so she must have seen something with her own eyes. I just...I just don't know what to think."
"Trust me Connor. Please, just trust your girlfriend."
"I can't."
"So what does that mean? You can't? You can't trust me anymore but I'm supposed to trust you in your all-girls-except-you study group? I'm supposed to trust you with your secret plans with girls that you blow me off for? Yeah, I figured out that you weren't telling me about your plans because they were with someone illicit, since you also blew off your friends that night over Twitter."
"This is not the same thing. There isn't a video of me down someone else's throat circling Twitter!"
"There isn't one of me either!"
"You know what I mean, Sydney."
"No, I don't."
"I can't do this anymore! I can't do this anymore with you."
"Can't do what?"
"This relationship. I've endured it for too long. I can't do it anymore."
"So what are you doing right now? What are you saying? I want to hear you say it, Connor. I want the words "I'm breaking up with you" to come out of your mouth so that I know you understand the gravity of what you're doing. This is a four-year relationship. A relationship with a backstory unlike anyone else's we've ever known. A relationship that has lasted the likes of Ashley Yates and Kevin Long before this. A relationship that has lasted through long distance before. I want to hear you say those words before this is over."
"I'm breaking up with you. I'm breaking up with you."
"I didn't say I wanted to hear them twice."
"Well I usually don't get through to you the first time, if history is any witness."
"Are you kidding me right now?"
"No, I'm not. I'm breaking up with you. Maybe the next pen pal couple will make it through the girlfriend-cheating-on-her-boyfriend phase of their relationship."
"Fine."
"Fine?"
"Fine. I guess we're done. Have a nice life. Don't bother saying hello at the engagement party."
"You still have the nerve to show up?"
"Try me, Hall."
"Bye."
"Bye."
Sydney hung up the phone and took a deep breath before turning her TV show back on.
Connor hung up the phone and cried.
A/N: Alright, that's the end of Part One. It was a fun ride.
Part Two will begin updates after a two-week-long hiatus (so on Wednesday September 20) to give me time to get the second part up and running.
Give me your predictions and reactions!
