Adele Shepherd isn't afraid of anything.
A hunter-gatherer who knows her way around a shotgun and an axe, she lives off the land in the depths of the forest outside Buck Pines, the destitute Highlands town where she was born and raised. The only one to live in Elk Woods since her sister left seven years ago, she knows it better than the back of her hand and she spends her days foraging for food, fishing in the creek, and hunting deer. But she's not alone. The forest is a renowned werewolf spot, though she doesn't fear the creatures that killed her parents.
When Adele finds a starved and badly injured werewolf not far from her cabin, it's up to her to take him in and save his life but she's playing with fire in a town dedicated to hunting the beasts that once overran the woods. All she wants to do is help him out and send him on his way before anyone finds out but when she's sleeping with a policeman and her sister is engaged to the leader of the organisation that hunts and kills lycans, it won't be easy to hide one.
Especially as he has no intention of leaving.
