After the misfortunate events of the previous night I was seriously considering never leaving my bed ever again. Nevertheless, after tossing and turning for a good two hours, my blaring alarm forced me to embrace reality and get myself ready for a no-doubt torturous day at Milgreen High School - but first, I had to face Sasha.
Twenty-three minutes later I crept down the stairs and felt my stomach churn at the unusually silent kitchen I was greeted with. Peaking around doorways and into the garden I was finally convinced that I was alone until—
"Ahem!" Someone coughed behind me causing me to embrace my inner cat as an animalistic screech escaped my mouth and I dropped my bags to the floor ready to fight. Breathing a sigh of relief, I was oddly glad to see a smirking Matt watching my suspicious behaviour.
"She's still upstairs." He stated, answering my unasked yet burning question. For a second time I let out a breath of relief and grabbed a breakfast bar and apple before settling on a barstool.
"So..." I drawled out conversationally as Matt fixed himself some cereal, "how was your first day of teaching?"
"Fine. Weird, but fine."
"Why weird?" I asked absent-mindedly as I fought with the wrapping of my breakfast bar. Stupid plastic just wouldn't tear!
"Well lets just say, when I joined the FBI Academy I didn't expect my job description to involve teaching teenagers about Shakespeare." He grumbled in a slightly resentful tone.
"Yes!" I sighed dramatically as the plastic wrapping fell away on to the bar. I looked up at Matt with a gleeful smile which immediately faded when realised that this was probably the wrong moment to celebrate as he gave me a flat, irritated look. Wishing I hadn't further soured his usual gloomy mood, I was poised to take a bite of my breakfast bar when I heard the distinct sound of Sasha's slipper-clad feet padding down the stairs.
"Morning guys!" She greeted in a far more pleasant mood than I would have expected causing a nervous feeling to bubble in my stomach.
Acting as though nothing had occurred the previous night, Sasha casually made herself a cup of coffee and popped a slice of bread in the toaster as I watched her quizzically. As she waited for her toast to finish she turned around abruptly with a smirk on her face and walked back out of the room leaving a look of confusion firmly planted on my face.
"You should follow me. Now." she yelled behind her with a playful edge to her voice; completely astounding me. Slowly, I rose from my seat and after receiving a disinterested shrug from Matt, followed behind the crazy woman heading out of our front door.
Once outside I saw Sasha disappear around the side of the house and head towards a detached, ivy covered garage that I had barely noticed since we arrived. Picking up my speed, I proceeded towards the door within which Sasha had disappeared and was shocked at the sight before me. Parked beside a beaming Sasha was a glossy, baby blue Volkswagen Beetle convertible complete with a yellow minion car freshener hanging from the rear-view mirror.
Glancing hesitantly at Sasha, I cautiously walked towards the car and skimmed my fingers over the smooth, polished surface.
"Do you like it?" She asked watching my expression carefully. "I wasn't sure about the colour but you can always pick out another one."
