Your POV

You stepped out of your light (f/c) car, and closed it's door. You locked it as well.

Last year of college. You sighed. Yes.

You've taken a six year course, specifically computer engineering, and so far you're doing good, if you do say so yourself.

Good...?

Heck, good doesn't cut it! You sit on top of the dean's list, and you're the freaking president of the entire engineer department!

Your schoolmates basically worship you, you're pretty much queen-- no, empress of the entire campus.

You're beautiful, kind (if only they knew), AND literally a genius.

No offense to everyone else in the school but you pretty much beat them all in terms of... Uh... Everything.

...

Well, now that you think about it, they beat you in terms of fraternization, height and...

Affinities.

Affinities? Fraternization?

You mused, walking out of the parking lot and into the campus.

To hell with affinities and fraternization. Friends-- even boyfriends and girlfriends double-cross each other. Why, didn't you have one like, 15 years ago? And he was a monster, too. Monsters tend to stick to morals like 20 times better than humans. And my monster ex boyfriend double-crossed me.

Well, I suppose we weren't anymore than a couple of kids, you reasoned.

Give it up, Y/n. You told yourself. You just suck at relationships. Stop trying to justify your being single, because you tried to have a boyfriend, remember? Just three years ago? You wouldn't even let him touch one strand of your hair.

You puffed up your cheeks in amusement. Yeah, remember Dayne, the stick-in-the-mud.

He was so happy to have your yes, but then he suffered being cold-shouldered by you.

Through all this musings, you reached the middle of the engineering campus, and, in addition, your first subject's room.

You were early, as always.

Only the professor was there, reviewing his beginning-year topics.

"Good forenoon, Professor Poppys!" You greeted lively. This one professor is your favorite, and he's the only human who knows your other form.

"Y/n, my dear!" He stood up, accepted your hug. "I haven't seen you in ages! How was summer?"

"Quite idle. How'd your summer vacation with Angela go?" You asked. Angela is his wife, and said wife loves you like you're her child, too.

"Hawaii was spectacular! Angela and I hoped you had come with us."

"Aww, c'mon, Prof, ya know I can't-"

"Nonsense! You are like the daughter we never had, Y/n! You can come with us anywhere we go. Next summer, you come with us, child."

"Aww, thanks... But-"

"No buts!"

You laughed, then pointed to the papers on his desk.

"Watcha doin', anyway?"

"What do you think I'm doing, child?"

"Reviewing your sermon on the mount."

He guffawed.

"Well, good to know you haven't lost that humor over the summer, Y/n!"

You giggled like a little child.
