The next morning when I woke up I helped finish unpacking and then took a shower.  Walking out of the shower I went to my dresser and grabbed my black shorts and a light mid length shirt. I pulled my hair in a messy bun and applied very little makeup.  Headed down the stairs I grabbed a bowl out of the cabinet and poured me a bowl of shredded wheat cereal.

          "Are you ready?" Mom asked.

"Yeah." I replied as I put my bowl in the sink.

Mom asked me to drive and I was a little skiddish because I had never driven in Arizona but i did it anyway. I pulled into the drive and shut the car off. Making sure to leave the windows open a little so the car wouldn't be boiling when we got in later. When we got to the door my mom knocked and the house nurse came to open the door. I guess I didn't realize how bad my papa had gotten. I walked in the living room to see him sitting quietly in front of the t.v. Mom walked over and sat next to him.

          "Hey dad, How you feeling?"

          "Uh, good. Where's Ashley?"

          "Papa!!!"I replied

He looked at me with a big smile on his face. How could the man that taught me so much be slipping away so fast? I couldn't believe that they just let him stay at home. He could literally go any time and they wouldn't know. Why wasn't he in the hospital? Would mom eventually put him in the hospital? Thoughts raced through my mind. I couldn't let these things interfere with what could be the last moments I had with my papa. After gathering myself I went back into the living room and sat down. As soon as I did papa asked mom,

"Brenda can I give it to here now?"

           "Yes."

"What is it." I asked anxiously.

My papa stood up and walked to me with the help from my mother. He grabbed my hand and shakily put a pair of keys in my hand.

"No, Papa you didn't.... you shouldn't have. Oh thank you."

"Oh rosebud, I dont have any use for it anymore."

"Papa I can't take your dodge challenger. You paid so much for it."

"I want you to have it."

"Thank you Papa." I said wrapping my arms around his neck.

Me and mom stayed for dinner and told Papa we would be back in a couple of days. Instead of driving mom's car back home. I got to drive my very own car. I was so happy. Even with Papa being sick he was still looking out for me and spoiling me. I enjoyed the peaceful ride home, I sat and thought about Papa and what could happen. My thoughts disappeared as I pulled into the driveway. When I stepped out of the car Brody was standing there just looking at me. I waved. When I was almost inside I heard,

         "Man that's a beauty. What it is a 90?"

         "Thanks and yeah." I replied

"So where did you move here from?"Brody asked

"So where did you move here from?"Brody asked

         "Tulsa."

"Man that's a long way to travel."

"Yeah I know but it was for a good reason."

"Oh, well i'm glad to have some new neighbors. This house has been empty for almost a year now."

"Wow that's shocking. The houses here are amazing. Anyway I need to go. See you around." I waved as I walked in the front door.
