phil woke up early the next morning, excited for emily to arrive. her flight was scheduled to land at 11:00 am, and it was 8:00 at the moment. three hours, and what to do? he didn't expect dan to wake up at least until 10:00, which meant he'd have some time to himself.

actually, screw dan. he decided to force his hobbit-haired friend help him plan something for when emily arrived. phil went to dan's room, and tiptoed to his bed in the dark. he placed one hand on dan's shoulder and one on his hip. he shook dan awake, yelling his name, and laughed at the angered look dan gave him.

"what the fuck, phil?" dan shouted. phil continued to laugh. dan's angry facial expression soon turned to a smile, and soon he was laughing along with his friend, throwing whatever he could find strewn about his bed at phil.

"hey, hey! stop it! you had to get up anyway, emily's gonna be here soon!"

dan's pov

oh, shit. i was going to try and look decent, but with this hair, that isn't going to happen. i hopped out of bed, knocking phil out of the way, and walked to the bathroom. i pulled out my hair products and set to work.

two hours later

as dan attempted to ready himself in the bathroom, and phil did some last minute cleaning around the flat, the doorbell rang. dan left his room, only to see phil bolt for the door, and laughed at his enthusiasm.

emily's pov

i could already hear footsteps near the door, despite only having rung the bell three seconds ago. the door opened, and i was welcomed with a tall, smiling, black haired boy. (not so much a boy anymore, he's almost 30.)

"emily!" phil exclaimed, and pulled me into a hug. i hugged back, my face pushed into his chest, due to our difference in height.

"jesus phil, you're a giant!" he laughed. i stepped inside their flat, noticing especially how nice it smelled and how warm it was. i saw dan too, but only for a second. he smiled at me, but soon left, probably to go back to his room. i was kind of happy, actually. it left me with more time to talk to phil.

phil showed me to their living room, and we sat for hours and hours and chatted about old times, current times, future plans, everything.

dan thought that phil might like some time to catch up with emily, so he left them in lounge, and returned to his own room.

dan definitely understood why phil liked emily so much. she was small and thin, and had below-the-shoulder blonde-brown hair. she wore black jeans, rolled up just once or twice at the ankle and an oversized, dark-red wool sweater. she seemed quite shy, which dan found nice. he wasn't much of an outgoing person either.

"you don't have much stuff with you." dan heard phil ask her.

"all of my home items are in a storage locker, so i pretty much just have my clothes & a few important things!" she replied.

"ah, i see. when do you start work?"

"in two weeks! i'll be replacing someone else since she's retiring, but not for a couple weeks so i'll have some free time."

"you have to be sure to tell dan and i lots of stories from work! i'm so excited to hear about everything!"

dan wondered what kind of job she had. he hoped these stories wouldn't be gross.

"oh, and i forgot! dan and i- actually no, it was just me, made plans for this afternoon! we'll go out to dinner and we'll show you a bit of london and then maybe head out to a bar or something later?"

dan didn't hear a reply from emily. hopefully, she'd be up for it. he wanted to get to know her a bit.

a few hours later

as they walked around town, dan strayed a little behind phil and emily. he felt a bit awkward around the two of them, as they were already close, but dan knew almost nothing about her. the only time he'd even spoken to her was when he asked where she'd like to sleep. (she chose the couch in the lounge.) they'd already had dinner, and it was nearing 8:00.

"should we head to the bar now?" phil asked, looking back at dan.

"can we head back to your flat first so i can change my clothes? it's chillier than i thought it'd be tonight." emily asked, looking up at phil. he nodded, and the three headed back to the flat
