Hisako pov: [name means 'child of long life']
"What about Hisako chan? Maybe we could ask her to be our fourth member." I heard a classmate of mine whisper to her friends while I put my books into my bag.
"I guess we could....but she's kind of difficult to talk to." Another voiced out hesitantly, unknowing that she was actually loud enough for me to hear.
"Well, I think she's a nice person....but just not very social." This time a boy spoke. "If she was a little more open, I would have asked her to be my girlfriend! She's really pretty after all."
A small smile grazed my lips at their conversation. I shook my head mildly amused, but not very noticeably, before zipping up my bag and pulling the strap over my shoulder. Classes had ended for the day and it was time head home but I was yet to form a group for the Archaeology Research Group Project that was given to us today and had to be submitted two weeks from today.
"Hisa chan! Will you join up with our group for the project?"
Turning to the side, I saw Satomi jogging towards me with one of her usual bright smiles. She was a slightly plump girl in my class with brown hair and big brown eyes. She was the most cheerful person I had ever seen and she had the gift to make those around her happy, even someone as silent and reserved as me. She was the only one in the class who spoke to everyone with the same amount of care and affection and was the closest friend I had. It was only around her that I didn't hesitate to be the person I truly am. In fact, Satomi was one of the only people I knew who treated me like a normal person.
Well, she believed that I was normal and just a little unsocial. What she or any other person in my class didn't know was that I wasn't what anyone would consider to be normal at all. I camouflaged with the crowd around me by not getting involved with anyone too much and keeping all my thoughts and feelings to myself.
"Sure, Satomi. As long as the others are okay with it." I said with a smile while glancing at the two other girls of our potential group.
They two of them waved to me with friendly smiles which gave me the message that they were okay with having me as a part of their group. I looked back at Satomi when she tugged on my arm while linking it with hers. She was looking at me with a bright smile and a very faint blush dusting her cheeks in happiness and she pulled me towards Yumi and Hikari, the other two members of our group.
"Hisa chan agreed to join up with us!" Satomi chimed when we reached them.
"That's great! We can give our group names to the teacher then." Yumi said. "How about we all meet up at my house today evening for some brainstorming? We could have a preliminary discussion and decide how to go about on the project."
"That sounds like a good idea, Yumi chan! Will going to her house be okay with you two?" Satomi asked while looking at me and Hikari.
"That's fine with me. I could get some chips on the way, of you'd like." I offered with a smile. I may not be very social but I knew how to treat people and be courteous in most situations.
"Awesome! Then I'll get some juice!" Hikari said excitedly.
"I'll get chocolates!" Satomi vouched.
"I'll ask my mother to make some sandwiches." Yumi said smiling.
We all agreed on the plan and decided to meet up at Yumi's place at seven thirty in the evening. We then parted ways and I headed back to my home on foot.
