Chapter 12: F Is Also For......

"I have let you chase your dream, I've let yu become an actress so you better fulfil the end of our agreement by the age of 25" No, her dream was to become an idol but her mother will never understand.

"Lawyer, doctor or businesswoman. Those are the only options for you, pick one career and make sure you succeed before you are 25 or giving up is always an option but if you do, I'll disown you right away." Her voice filled with venom, making the young Skylar shiver in fear.

"Yes mother" yes that was all she can ever say, she can never say no.

"Let me remind you that if you give up at any point, that little brother of yours will be left homeless. Don't make me the bad guy, do you understand?" her eyebrows raised as she spoke.

"Yes mother, I understand..." The young girl finally took in her first breath in a long time when the woman left her room.

"Noona? Why is your face so white? Are you sick?" That young boy, he was so innocent. He was still younger brother even though they're only half siblings.

None of this was his fault, it the adult's faults. He shouldn't be blamed or even hated at all, he was just an innocent party of an affair. She needed to stay strong for him, to protect him from any threats like her mother.

"Noona is fine, do you want Noona to play hide-and-seek with you?" The young Skylar regain her composure, pretending she was fine when she's not. Acting skills, that was what she have achieve over the years from the fake smiles and happiness.

Tiredness and fatigue overtook her as she left Seoul Sky Hotel.

That was the fifth place she have gone today, who said being a businesswoman was easy. Especially when her schedule is totally full and another appointment just pops out of nowhere, adding onto her busy schedule.

She is famished, she didn't even get to sit down and take a single bite today. Her day was full of meetings and yet, today was supposed to be her day off.

What she least expected was her mother's car waiting at the carpark of her penthouse. She decided to move out a week ago so no one finds out that her brother is in Korea.

A million thoughts ran in her head. Did she go upstairs, did she saw Jihyun yet? Worried was she as she took her phone out to call her brother, only to find out that she was so worried for nothing when he said he was with Jinyoung. All she did was inform him not to come back too late before hanging up.

She fake a smile to encourage herself as she walks towards her mother's car. She was so right, her mother was already upstairs. She rushed up, only to put up her walls as she walk into her penthouse.

A woman who's back was facing her as she walk in, she swore to change her password and locks later on as she took a step closer. Silence filled the air as the lady turn around, she still look as young as ever.

"Hello mother" She greeted formally as she kiss both her mother's cheeks as a sign of respect.

"Why are you here, mother?" Her mother was never the type to visit someone at their houses especially Skylar without a reason.

"Don't tell me you forgot about the dinner tonight, I'm sure your grandmother has told you that you're meeting you fiance tonight. Even I, myself, would like to see who your grandfather had chosen for you. Do be there by 7, don't be late" That was her last words before she left the penthouse.

Skylar felt suffocated just by her mother's presence, she hated it. The feeling of being intimidated, especially by her mother. It was like her admitting defeat to her, she despise it.

There she was, confidently strolling into the restaurant in her red heels and black dress. Her eyes scanning the place while hiding behind her sunglasses.

Ah, celebrity! Thats what she looks like with perfect curls that she had done home earlier by herself and some pinkish red lipstick to go with her black dress. She look like she was going to walk the red carpet, perfect.

"Any reservation, Miss?" A staff greeted her at the counter.

"Yes, it's under Mr Park Jihoon" The staff look up at her in surprise before regaining her composure.

"Right this way please" The staff led her to the second level of the restaurant, walking pass a bunch of tables and closed doors.

Yet, a familiar face walking out one of the rooms caught her eyes as she walk past him.

"Oppa?" she half-whispered, stopping in her tracks as she turn behind to look at him.

She couldn't believe her eyes, that guy look exactly like her oldest brother, only more mature. He was with a date, a very pretty lady. She shakes her head, telling herself thay she was mistaken and continued to follow the staff.

"This room, miss" The restaurant staff bow before walking away.

"Hello mother, father" She greet her parents as she step into the room. Kissing both her parents on the cheeks before greeting her grandmother.

"Grandma" She greeted, kissing her grandmother on her cheeks too.

"Why so formal, darling?" Her grandmother pull her into a warm hug and gave a kiss on her cheek.

"Halmeoni" she giggled as her grandmother started poking her sides to make her feel ticklish.

"Skylar" Skylar froze when her mother called her by her english name, all the hair on her body stood up.

"How was your day, my daddy little girl?" Her father use the long nickname he gave her when she was young, especially since she was a really daddy little girl at that time.

"It was fine dad" she replied with a smile but that smile didn't last for long when her mother join in the conversation.

"How's your business planning now? You haven't forget about our agreement, have you" Her mother ask, her eyes watching Skylar's every move.

"Of course not, mother" she replied, taking a sip of the fine red wine on the table.

"Our guests is arriving soon, I hope your are done talking about business" A voice spoke from Skylar's side, it was her grandmother indeed. Only she would dare interrupt any one's conversation.

"Of course" Both Skylar and her mother replied.

Skylar could see the annoyance all over her mother's face, she knew her mother wasn't liking the arrangements at all. Her mother probably haven't even met her fiance by the looks of it, but boredom was written over her mother's face.

She knew for sure that her mother and her grandmother doesn't get along well. She also knows that her mother will never like the suitor that her grandfather has pick because her mother always believe in her own judgements.

The only one that her mother will ever pick for her is Nick Anderson, one of the hottest and richest billionaire in New York. Those are her mother type, especially him. Her mother has been trying to hook them up since 2 years ago but all Skylar has done was reject him, making him angry.
