> A true friend is someone who sees the
pain in your eyes while everyone else
believes in your smile. <Chapter 1
Ebony's POV:" Ebony always remember that your father and I love you very much. Wear this necklace around your neck and never take it off." My mum had tears in her eyes, as she put a small necklace with a pendant that had my name on the back of the three moons in my hand. " Run, Run as fast as you can, Ebony. And remember to never look back."
I started running like she asked, I was so tired but couldn't stop, I had to listen to my mum. I just wanted to see her smile one last time so I looked back, and that was the biggest mistake that I've ever made in my life. A woman stood in front of my mum holding a silver sword, with words written in thin delicate lines on the blade and within seconds, she plunged the sword into my mum's abdomen causing my mum to scream in agony. The man standing in front of my dad did the exact same thing but when the sword plunged into his abdomen, he didn't scream. The only word that came out of his mouth was," Ebony."
I stood there watching my parents get brutally murdered. It felt like something was breaking inside me. I can't see the murderer's faces, but both of them did have silver and gold lines, that circled their arm from the wrist all the way to their elbows.
I wanted to run back to my parents but I couldn't. I wouldn't.
I woke up with tears streaming down my face and my body soaked in sweat. I have been getting the same dream constantly for the last 7 years. My mind won't be at peace until I get revenge for my parent's death. I will find the ones who took away everything from me. I was ripped apart from everything that I ever loved in a matter of one day. I will never forget that day, and the scream of pain from my mother will forever be heard.
"Are you ok, Ebony?" My mum asked with worry in her blue eyes. She seriously gets worried for no reason sometimes. Dad is probably going to to appear at my door any second now. "Sweetie, are you ok?" And that's my dad. My parents are so protective but I still love them. They have always been there for me. I wish they are there for me when I say I don't want to go to school, but that's the one thing that my parents are very serious about. Every time I ask them if I can skip school, they will start their long speech about how important school is. You don't believe me? I can prove it to you.
"Mama, can I please skip school today? I have finished all the homework, even the homework that we are getting next week." Now, my parents are going to start with the long speech that they have probably practiced for more than 100 times.
"Sweetie, how many times do I have to tell you this? School is important, you should be happy that you have a roof over your head and education that will help in the future. Some kids your age around the world are struggling to survive, going to school is something that they could only dream about." And that was my mum finishing half the speech with a big sigh, disappointment clearly showing in her soft blue eyes. Now it's my dad's turn.
"School may be hard, annoying and irritating but admit it. You're going to miss it when it ends. You only have a year and a half left of high school. Enjoy it, go out with friends and do things that normal teenagers your do." My dad ended the speech with a big smile, probably happy that he remembered his part of the speech.
" Okay fine, but can you two go out so that I could get ready for school?" I am not going to bother arguing with them. They usually win if its about school. I don't want to go to school because: One- I have no social life. Two- school is boring, plus I already know the answer to every question in any subject at school, and three- I don't want to face Pearl.
It was already 7:15am so I started changing into my school uniform. I have PE in third period so I wore my PE uniform. PE is my favourite subject at school because it's the only subject that I don't get bored in.
*Ding Ding* and that was the bell. I better get to class before I get another detention.
"Hey EB!" My best friend waved frantically at me calling me by my nickname. Her grey eyes bright with excitement.
" Bonjour Em, how was your weekend?" I asked as I sat next to her. I am in first period right now, and this period happened to be French. "OMG, you are looking awesome as always. You should really give me some tips on how to have flawless skin like yours!!" She is crazy, normal people would start their conversation with their friend on a Monday morning like,' Hey, what did you do on the weekend?' Or ' Did you finish all your homework ?' but Amethyst is completely insane. She starts conversations with the most the random things."Hello?" Em's voice brought me out of my thoughts as she stares at my intensely.
"What?..... Do I have something on my face?" I questioned with an eyebrow raised waiting for an answer.
"Your face is fine. You just daydream a lot, one second you are talking to me and then another second you are in your own little world." I should really stop daydreaming.
"Sorry...... Hey, wanna do something tonight? You can choose whatever you want to do and I will do it with you." Her face lit up like a light bulb. "Anything.....?" She asked slowly. I have a bad feeling about this but she's my best friend and I would do anything to make her happy.
"Anything." I answered with a big smile on my face.At 7:00pm, Amethyst barged into my room with a big smile on her face, mischief showing in her eyes. She was holding big shopping bags in her hands... "PARTY TIME!!" Wait.....WHAT?!
