Arran's pov

I made my way down to the track and was surprised to see both my parents sitting in the stands. Mom, in her usual overalls had her long hair tied back off her face. She was still remarkably pretty, especially for her age. My dad, who after retiring from racing took over the financial side to moms business was sitting in his usual suit, but the tie was gone and his jacket lay in a heap beside him. I wonder why they were down here? Wait, they shouldnt have been back for another two weeks?

I walked towards them and my mom stood up so I could embrace her. "Well Megan's quite the cutie isnt she?" Mom asked.

"Yeah, she is." I grinned.

"Have you-" asked my dad raising his eyebrows suggestively.

"Its not like that." I explained.

"Aww my little boys growing up!" Mom cooed causing me to roll my eyes.

Just then Dauntress took to the track and I returned to the puzzel I had spent almost a whole week trying to solve. Who was Dauntress?

I saw Chase sitting alone further along and I went to speak to him.

"Hey did Megan invite you?" I asked.

"Yeah I came to-" He paused.

"Came to what?" I pushed.

"Watch the race with her." He added. Something was up and I caught sight of a tattoo on the rolled up sleave of Dauntress who was pulling into the pits.

I rolled my sleave up to itch my arm before quickly hiding my tattoo. I found Arran sitting next to Chase in the stands as Danni made the final finishing touches to my bike.

When she told me I was good to go, I headed to the start line and prepared to race.

I waited, always ready, always waiting for those lights to turn green. On instinct I put my hand on the gas a second before the lights switched and as soon as I saw that familiar colour I was already moving.

I raced round the track, thinking of speeds, angles, projectorary. Every curve was graceful and tight and just as I went to cross the finish line I caught sight of him.

My dad grinned evilly at me, buy when I looked back a second time he was gone.
