It all happened in a blur.
Ellie had been told to hide in Chief Lyssandra's room because Eldrick had spotted some castle soldiers heading for the tavern.
Castle soldiers always mean bad news.
Especially with a runaway noble in the house.
Ellie dashed to said room and locked the door and closed the curtains, occasionally peeking out to see the situation.
She saw the Chief and Gerald walking up to the soldiers. Even though the distance between her and them wasn't that far, she couldn't hear them clearly.
She, however, caught her name from the soldier's lips. She mentally cursed her ears for only making out her name.
She saw the Chief shaking her head fiercely and Gerald grabbing his giant spear on the table. The soldiers apparently went mad and attacked.
Hoards of soldiers rushed in. Immediately, she closed the curtain and ducked. It would be bad if they saw her golden hair, which would be a dead giveaway that she was the one they were looking for.
She could hear clangs of metals. The mercenaries and the soldiers were fighting.
She could hear Eldrick crying out something, probably one of his special moves again. A bit of weigh lifted from her chest.
She could hear the soldiers' cries of pain. It seemed that the mercenaries were winning.
Ellie smiled. The Fierce Boar has always had incredible strength, and she was proud of it.
But that relief didn't last long.
Certain that the mercenaries of The Fierce Boar would win, she dared to peek outside.
And what she saw shook her to her very core.
What she thought was one of Eldrick's weird cries was actually a cry of pain.
And now he lay on the table, unmoving and still, with a sword sticking out from his chest.
She gasped, evident horror in her face. She got it all wrong. It was the complete opposite.
The soldiers were winning, and they won.
They got the Chief's hands tied to her back. They got Gerald stood still with raised hands. They got the remaining mercenaries, either dead or captured.
The Fierce Boar lost.
If a moderate band of soldiers won against one of the most powerful mercenary guilds, then just how powerful the kingdom's military power is?
She felt tears streaming down her cheeks. A soldier caught sight of her and immediately traveled for the room.
Game over.
The door opened before Ellie could do anything.
Before she could accept that everything that she saw were real.
