Anthea ran down the halls of her palace and once she reached her uncle's room, she entered without knocking.
Jaime looked up, surprised to see his daughter this early in the morning. He took a step towards her.
'What's wrong, Anthea?' he asked softly.
'I received a letter this morning,' she explained while giving him the letter so he could read it. 'It's from lord Varys. It's a warning.'
Jaime's eyes widened as he continued to read the words on the paper. 'The king in the North, Jon Snow, is joining that Daenerys Targaryen now? That's impossible. When did they meet?'
Anthea shook her head. 'I have no idea. But I do know that this makes us look even more weak. Daenerys and Jon Snow and the Boltons? That's just too much for us to handle.'
'You must not forget that your armada owns the seas right now. And not to mention that the last of the Boltons where killed in an uproar somewhere up North. Our enemies in the North just lost an ally,' Jaime argued.
'You must not forget that Euron Greyjoy's armada owns the seas right now. And it doesn't matter that the Boltons are all dead. It's just a matter of time before they find a new ally. Guess what, they already found her,' she sneered back.
Euron Greyjoy had arrived last week. He'd wanted to marry her mother, but she turned him down. That's when he decided to leave with the promise to bring a gift once he returned. And so he did. He gave them Ellaria Sand and her last living daughter.
Anthea didn't wish to know what her mother was going to do to her, but at least the death of Myrcella would be justified.'Euron Greyjoy is on our side,' Jame tried again, but Anthea scoffed. 'That Greyjoy doesn't have any honour. He will take the Iron Throne from me as soon as he marries mother.'
'You don't know that. Maybe he does want to help us.' But it didn't sound really convincing. Jaime was just lying to himself to make the girl feel better. He hated that Euron Greyjoy. The arrogant prick. He would never, ever let him marry his beloved sister.
'We both know that's not true,' Anthea said while pouring herself some wine.
'Since when do you drink wine?' Jaime asked while frowning.'Since we're most likely going to die very soon. I'd rather die from a screwed up liver than by somebody's sword.'
Jaime took the goblet from her. 'You need to stop it. Nobody is going to die, Anthea. Your mother spoke to Tycho Nestoris. The Iron Bank is willing to help us as soon was we have repaid our debts.'
Anthea chuckled sadly. 'Like that's going to happen anytime soon. How are we supposed to repay them without gold?'
Jaime smiled mysteriously. The queen sighed deeply. 'What now, uncle?'
'Next week I will be taking a part of the Lannister army to Highgarden. We both know that Daenerys wants to have Casterly Rock now that the Boltons are dead. Casterly Rock belongs to us again, but not for long. I am sure that the Unsullied will overrun our men and take the place, but I have no idea when they will attack. I will go to Highgarden and take all of their gold. With that money, we will be able to repay them.'
Anthea blinked a few times. 'Wouldn't it be better to keep House Tyrell as an ally? Lady Tyrell never did anything wrong. Why kill her? And why do I always hear this kind of outrageous plans when it's too late?'
Jaime scratched the back of his neck. 'It was your mothers idea. I just agreed to it. I didn't realize that you might want to know about this plan.'
'Why wouldn't I want to know? I am the queen! How many times do I have to say that before you guys realize that? It's unbelievable. I am not just some silly girl you can mess around with!'
'I know, I know,' Jaime tried to calm her down. 'But you need to focus on your wedding with lord Baelish. A queen can only have time for a few things. Let your mother handle the rest. She is good at strategies. She knows what to do. We're settled, Anthea. We've got Killian leading our own Lannister fleed, Euron leading his while being our ally, I lead the army... We're going to be fine.'
'But hang on for a second... If you are going to take the gold from House Tyrell, why do I still need to marry lord Baelish?' she asked.
'Anthea, we need every ally we can get. Even if we repay the Iron Bank, we still won't have enough gold to provide ourselves with wapons, food and men. Even if the Iron Bank is willing to lend us gold, we still won't have enough. I highly doubt that the amount of gold they will provide us with will ever be enough. War is expensive. Very expensive and with the gold of lord Baelish, his knights of the Vale and his two strategically lain places we have a fair chance of winning this war.'
