Fruits basket ~Tohru x Kyo

chapter 3. soba noodles

It is a normal day at the Sohmas, Tohru is finishing up the dishes when she is greeted by two of the sohmas, Kagura and Momiji. "Tohru! Tohru!" Momiji shouts, "We've come to visit you!" Tohru beams, "I'm so glad!" the random conversation continues until Momiji unexpectedly stands up and states, "Tohru, I've also come to ask you on a date!" Tohru is frozen, shaken by his words... Momiji continues, "We'll call it Tohru and Momiji's super fun date date! What do you think!" Tohru pauses nervously, and responds, "Okay!" with a cheerful smile. Tohru has been hiding her feelings for Kyo, he is number one in her heart, but feels like she's leaving her deceased mother behind... Momiji leaps with joy "hurra! Let's go! Come on, let's go! Kagura waits at Shigure's home for Kyo, he is coming back from the dojo and is fairly tired. Kagura surprises him with a hug when he enters the house. He yells at her, asking why she is currently here. She replies, "I don't need a reason to see my love!" Crushing Kyo in a tight embrace, Yuki returns home from the student council to see the two. Yuki then states, "please flirt somewhere else" with a sarcastic eye roll. To which Kyo pushes kagura off and replies, "we are not flirting, you damn rat!"

Yuki ignores Kyo and instead asks where Ms. Honda is. Kagura delightfully exclaimed shes on a date! Both Yuki and Kyo looked stunned! Yuki went upstairs, stating that it was none of his business.

Kyo sat in silence. Kagura, to break said silence, suggests that she and Kyo should go out on a date too! But Kyo quickly shouts "No!" In disinterest. Kagura starts crying, disappointed and heartbroken, asking why not. But because Kyo is so sensitive to girls, crying ones at that, he stands. Reaching his hand out, he reluctantly agrees. "fine... let's go" he declares.

Meanwhile, Tohru and Momiji are eating out at a nice soba noodle restaurant. Momiji boasts quite heavily about what his class did for the culture festival, and how it was supercalifagilisticebealidoshous! Smiling, he exclaims that it was great!

The talk goes on and Tohru looks down at her bowl slowly remembering the time after her mother passed away. She had decided that instead of feeling the sadness for her mother's death, she'd carry her mother with her always and make her first in her heart without exception. Tohru is brought back from her daze when Momiji starts talking about how the cats time is almost up, and how he will need to be locked up for the rest of his life. Tohru asks why, which Momiji replies, "because it's the job of the cat," Tohru thinks of Kyo having to be locked up for the rest of his life, alone, all because of the curse... I don't want to lose Kyo, I want to continue eating our meals together, and talking together. I want to get to know him better. I want to worry about him. I want to be together always. ...Tohru cries, but as soon as she says it- she snaps out of it. realizing what she just said, she feels a pain in her chest. Knowing that she can never fall in love with Kyo. That would be like her leaving her mother... She looks up and sees momiji's face in pain, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to load so much off on you." Momiji then grabs Tohru's hand, whispering,"I love you Tohru, please choose me"

An interesting like to point out is that the first two chapters I posted are about 3 years old but weren't posted till today because I was embarrassed by them lol still am.}
