Ian's POV
(Present time)
Although my eyes were closed and I was half asleep, I was still able to hear the cries coming from Lucy. I opened my eyes quickly to see that she was clenching the blanket with her fist as she continued to call out words that I wasn't able to make out. She was shivering and when I touched her, she was ice cold.
"Wake up, Luce" I instruct, trying to softly shake her awake.
Her eyes shot open, a confused took spread across her face.
"You're home, Luce" I move closer to her and wrap my arms around her body. "It's okay"
She pushes me off her and rolls back over, scooting herself off the bed.
"Where's Haylee?" She asks, frantically looking around the room and running into the hallway.
"She's right here" I point to the crib next to my bed that I had moved into the room early this morning after Lucy arrived home. We had talked for awhile but then she was getting too tired and she crashed immediately after she hit the pillow. I check my watch to see that it's after one o'clock.
"Oh, my baby" Lucy calls, running over to her and picking her out of the crib. She places her on her shoulder and rocks her back and forth.
"Did I do something to upset you?" I ask referring to the way she pushed me off of her when I tried to comfort her.
"No, you didn't do anything" She replies. "It's just going to take some time to get over what I went through"
"Did he hurt you? Cause I swear.." I start, anger building up inside of me.
"No, I mean yes, but not in the way you think" She lays Haylee down on the bed next to me and slides into bed. "Emotionally but not physically"
"Can I do anything for you? Do you need a drink or something to eat?" I question and she nods.
"How about pancakes?" She asks, giving me a small smirk.
"Sounds perfect" I reply, giving her a kiss on the head and picking up Haylee and lifting her high into the air. "To the kitchen we go!"
