Lucy's POV
A few weeks earlier
"Haylee" I scream as soon as I gain consciousness. I didn't know where she was or how long I had been out for, but she was the only thing on my mind. "Where are you baby?"
I ran my hand across my face to find blood dried across my skin. I must have been out for awhile. I use all my strength to pull myself off the ground. A bird calls in the distance and the tree limbs smack against one another in the crisp night breeze.
"Haylee!" I shout again, as if she's going to answer me.
I spin around, looking for anything that seems out of place. I spot a small shack in the distance and take off running. Once I got closer to the shack, I was greeted by a man in a mask who wrapped his arms around my body and pulled me inside before I could even reach the door. He threw me inside, against the wall next to a small bed which laid my sweet Haylee. My beautiful baby. He slammed the door behind us as I lunged for her, pulling her close to my chest and stroking her hair.
"It's okay. Mommy's here now, baby" I tell her as I continue to hold her close to me, afraid to let her go.
The man returns shortly, pushing a small portion of food towards me that wouldn't have been enough for a small dog.
"What about baby food? Or a bottle? Haylee can't eat this" I say before thinking. Then I mentally beat myself up for it.
"This isn't a five star hotel, Lucy" He speaks in a gruff voice that seems so similar but so distant. Who is this man? "I need you to write a letter"
A letter? What did he need me to write a letter for? Although I was confused, I decided not to question him. He was stronger than an ox.
"Yes, sure" I reply, quickly.
He leaves the room and returns with a small piece of paper and a pen. It was running low on ink, but I wasn't going to ask for another one. I didn't even know what I would be writing.
"You need to write to Ian and say that you're okay, but won't be for long. He will need to pay one million dollars in order for your safe return" He instructs, nodding towards a small bedside table I could use.
I quickly get off the floor, holding a strong grip on Haylee and make my way to the table where I place the pen and paper and begin writing. Haylee's between me and the wall, shielded away from this monster. I write fast, adding in bits and pieces that only Ian will understand. I tell him that Haylee and I are okay, but only if he pays the money this man requested. I tell him to come quickly or it will be too late. I sign my name at the bottom, adding a small heart next to my last name.
"Here, its finished" I say, holding the letter into the air, hoping he will come retrieve it so I don't have to move Haylee any closer to him. He comes and takes the letter out of my hand without a word and slams the door behind him, but little did he know that I wouldn't be needing Ian's help to get out of this place. I would be getting out myself.
