"Daichi, just listen to me for a moment-!" I yelled at my uncle in exasperation but he cut me off in a dangerously low and murderous voice that sent fear running down my spine,
"I am your uncle and you will do what I say, when I say it! Understood?!" His tone was sharp and harder than Yaraym. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have pushed him this far, but this is matter of life and death. I didn't have time for this.
"I don't care!! I have to do this or my brother is going to die!" I got out before he tried to cut in yet again, but I already knew what he was going to say so I yelled at him, "I don't give a jiee tyech what you say! You're not my mentor, you can't tell me what to do!!"
"That doesn't matter! I'm still your uncle and nobody else is here to make sure you don't go and get yourself killed! He roared back. Fury lighting his eyes like twin flames as he rose to his full height across the desk from me.
"I came across the freaking solar system! I know how to take care of myself! I would be fine!" I snapped angrily, electricity crackling like fire in the air between us. It was all I could do to extinguish the fury rising up inside of me before it got out of hand.
"You were limping and bleeding through some cheap bandage when I found you!" He retaliated.
"I was perfectly fine by the time I got-" My voice died in my throat as I registered the words he'd spoken. I stared at him while rage came creeping back in my heart, realizing the importance of what'd he'd just admitted to. And he seemed to as well.
"Now Teirin, wait jus-" he started, but I interrupted him.
"You followed me..." I whispered it almost to myself as I struggled to wrap my mind around what he had done behind my back. "All that time I was trying to survive with a nine year old boy in the White you were there the whole time!" I growled menacingly, electricity back and flowing through my veins like adrenaline.
"You were the reason why I felt like something was going to happen to Shay...it was you!" I took a step forward, matching his menacing snarl as I stared him down, daring him to deny it. He wouldn't look me in the eye or even speak for that matter.
"...It...It was me," He finally admitted slowly after a few agonizing seconds. I almost gasped in relief, but I held it in.
The rage building up within was straining to get out and it took nearly more energy than I had to keep it in check. If I didn't focus on restraining myself, well, I doubt the Sanctuary would still be here... That's how powerful a talent can be if left to its own devices. I knew that first hand.
"But I was only trying to make sure you were Zora's before I brought you here. I've made that mistake before and I didn't want to repeat it." he explained when I wouldn't take my eyes from him. I grudgingly nodded, still suspicious of his intentions. I didn't know whether to trust his word or not. This wouldn't be the first time he hadn't been completely honest with me.
"Why couldn't you have just told me that instead of knocking me out with anesthesia and dragging me here?" I asked suddenly, trying to catch him off guard.
"We had to do DNA tests to be sure and I didn't want you to be awake during them, asking questions." He told me without missing a beat. I made a face, but I saw the sense in it.
