5:23 AM
I wake up to the sounds of screaming.
A siren.
A plane.
Gunshots.
Still half asleep I jump out of bed, fear storms it's way into my mind, filling it with uncertainty and alarm.
I run towards my window, slowly pulling back the long draping curtains... Anxiety feeds on me as I pull them back, exposing myself to the world and the world to me, waiting for the answers.*curtains fully opened*
My eyes widen in shock.
Fear. Blood. Disaster.
Three words. Three words that almost describe this undeniable torture that awaits outside the doors of our very home.
People are screaming, running, crying. I see fire from every corner and it's terrifying.
From a far distance I hear moans, corpse like figures in a horde all coming this way, towards my house.
I stand there observing, unable to think or process any of this.'What happened?'
I couldn't even finish that thought as I see a cargo plane landing very close to my yard. Lots and lots of armed troopers come out of it, all wearing metallic armour and hazmat suits with guns that I have never seen before. They line up straight across the road where this horde of undefinable creatures arise, even though there are many other people who are on the other side, closing the gap between the fighters and the hoard. A man shouts 'Fire' and at that moment people are dropping like flies.
They didn't seem to care that they were killing innocent people, their masked faces gave off a deadly aura as if they were trained to be able not to feel, children were dying and yet they seemed not to care, not even flinching with the ear crunching sounds of gunshots firing from every corner.A woman with two children were hiding behind a car, shaking in fear. She gestured to her kids to go towards the other house adjacent to the car as they could go through and get out of the war zone. The children both ran off reluctantly leaving their mother as she wanted to make sure they had a safe escape, when they reached the other side her her children were waving their arms telling her to come with them now. However just as soon as the mother was about to come too, the release pin of a grenade echoed through the air and the car went up in flames, burning her alive.
They weren't even able to react as two of the men had grabbed them from behind and took them away, they screamed and struggled but couldn't escape, the horror in their eyes will forever haunt me.
Are these men here to help us? Or to kill us...I was brought back to my senses when I hear banging on the door, these bangs were not asking to come inside, they were demanding. Soon the door broke open, heavy thuds of footsteps running up the stairs. My instincts told me to hide, and so I did, I ran to my bed and hid underneath.
