I got my running start and leaped off the rock. I tried to be graceful and dive but I ended up belly flopping into the freezing water. "Ouch, nice one Salem." Rain laughed. "I tried to dive in but it ended in with a flop." My stomach was bright red.
We must have been there for at least four hours before we left. We were singing along to People are Strange by the doors. "That was fun, we should do this once a week, every friday." Ever was wringing out his shirt. "Yeah, sounds like a plan." Rain and I agreed. We got in the truck and drove home. He dropped me off at my house; My mother was waiting for me outside. We didn't get home until five. "Where were you? I've been worried sick." She tapped her foot angerly. "Mom, I'm sorry. Rain and Ever and I-" I started. "Who is Ever? Is he that boy that was with you two? What were ya'll doing? And why are you soaking wet?" I've never seen her so flustered. "Ever is a new kid and yes that was him. We went to a lake to swim. It was fun...I felt normal for the first time in forever. I wasn't worried about anything and they don't treat me like a kicked puppy. I'm sorry that I was out without telling you, but sometimes I just want to be able to go and have fun like a normal teenager." Her face softened. "Okay, I understand. Just call next time."
I ran up to my room and laid on my bed. I lay there and just replayed all of that in my mind. I dumped my backpack out on my bed so I could start my homework, but there was something different in the mix. There was a blue envelope with my name printed on it. I frantically opened it to see what the note said. "Hey, Salem. It's Ever, I just wanted you to know that I had a lot of fun today with you and Rainy. I think you're lovely...I must sound lame because I just met you, but I really do like you.Your personality is adorble, your doe eyes are so sweet...I don't mean to come off as creepy but I wanted to let you know that you're beautiful. I'll see you in school. -E." I let out a sigh and set the letter down. I can't let this happen. He cannot like me...It'll be horrible for him. I'm a walking disaster.
