two; teammates
Zatanna stops short at the sight of Miss Martian and Artemis standing in the living room on the boarding house.
"We saw what you did for the girl Zatanna."
Taking a step back Zatanna sighs.
"M'Gann, Artemis. What are you doing here?"
"We came to bring you back." Artemis states not wasting anytime.
"I can't come back, not know."
M'Gann frowns. "Zatanna, the team needs you. Dick...he's not the same without you."
"I'm sorry M'Gann, but I can't."
Artemis frowns. "Z, I know what you're going through. But now that Dick isn't himself we need all of our members, and what you did for that girl? You're not done being a hero."
Fists clenched Zatanna looks away. "I don't want to be a hero, haven't we paid our dues? What else do I have to give? Everyone in Metropolis is safe and happy with their families because of the things we sacrifice."
"Z."
Sighing Zatanna runs a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry Artemis."
"Zatanna, I'm sorry about what happened to Giovanni." M'Gann announces before walking over to her friend.
"He was a great man."
Glancing down to her hands Zatanna silently notices the contrast between her tan hands and M'Gann green ones.
"Yeah...he was."
"Look, I understand if you don't want to come back right now. Just promise that you won't completely shut us out. We are still your team after all."
Looking to Artemis Zatanna smiles softly. "Of course."
Pulling them both into an embrace she sighs. "I miss you guys."
"We miss you too."
"When you get back...can you tell Dick that I'm sorry? Tell him that I just had to get away."
"Yeah, we'll tell him." M'Gann assures before Artemis sighs.
