Lavina's POV

Gabe was being hella serious right now. I don't know how to feel about it. Only because I'm not used to seeing him this way.  In all honesty,  I'm on edge.

"Gabril,  what is wrong?  You say our parents have been hiding secrets from me? What kinds of secrets?  How did you find out?  Did they tell-"

"You're asking way too many questions baby sis. C'mon.  Let's go to the back porch.  You're going to need a seat for all of this. "

Gabe starts walking towards the back of the house. Me on the other hand?  I can't move my feet to even head towards that direction.  My mind was racing.  Secrets?  SECRETS?  So this arranged marriage isn't the only thing they were keeping from me huh?  Mm. Okay.  My parents are showing their true selves aren't they?  Are they even my real parents?

My anger gave me the drive to move my legs forward to meet up with Gabe.  I am seeking for answers and he seems to be the only one to have them.

"Watch out for the log Vina."

Gabe reminded me. I was such a klutz. I always missed that huge ugly log that separated me and the back side of the house. I would of thought my parents would move it. I guess that is one extra thing they're not transparent about.

"What is taking you so long, Vina? I thought you wanted answers? He snickers.

I give him my stank eye, and that cuts his snicker short.

"Woah, okay, I'm sorry. Just please change your eyes back to hazel please. The red gives me creep vibes."

I stopped to take a breather, calmed down. When I opened my eyes back up, Gabe started to smile.

"See? Way better. Now I know not to piss you off as often."

"Yeah, you better not, you turd."

I leap over the log, and I make a left to meet my brother sitting on the swing set on the porch. I hesitate.

"Lavina. Just sit down. Please. Please."

"Gabril... you do not know how angry all of this makes me feel. SECRETS? Are they really my-"

"LAVINA MIKHAYLA SERENE LOWE SIT DOWN NOW."

And I stop. And I stare. I have never seen this side of him before. I'm more scared than freaked out. What is this that I'm feeling? Am I really about to stand here and cry? What the hell is going on?

"Vina. Please.  I'm sorry for raising my voice", he said in a gentler tone.

"I just want to tell you as much as possible before Mom and Dad come back. Please."

I take a deep breath and exhale. I take a few steps towards him. He slides a little to his left to make space for me to sit. He grabs my little but strong hands into his big goofy ones. He would do this when he had to tell me something important. It always settled my nerves.

He took a deep breath,  and looked me dead in my face. I'm not prepared for what he has to tell me.

"Gabe, just get it over with. I'm prepared."

"I know you're not. This is a brave front you always put up when I have something to tell you. But I will tell you because I love you, and you're my little sis. I will always protect you. Always."

Those words hit me to the core. I knew my brother was a softee, but not this soft. This was way too sentimental for my taste.

"Gabe, this taking too lo-"

"Mom and Dad have been keeping things from you."

He took a deep breath. This must be something big, and I can see it pains him to explain it all.
