Danny's POV
They told me they were going to be gone till school started this time. I was walking to a park close by, trying to calm down. When I got there I saw someone sitting on the swing.
"Jake?" He wiped his eyes and looked up.
"Danny?"
"What are you doing here?" I asked while sitting next to him on a swing. He said nothing, just pulled down his collar a bit. Bruises.
"What about you?" He asked. I lifted up the hem of my shirt and he gasped, taking the somewhat mangled state of my torso.
"Who?" Was all he managed out.
"My, uhh... my dad. He didn't take it very well when he found out I was gay." Shit, did I really just come out to Jake?
Jake's POV
He's gay? I noticed the tears in his eyes. I got off my swing and knelt down in front of him.
"Danny, why are you crying?" He didn't say anything, just started sobbing. "Is it what you said?" He nodded, slowly. "I don't mind. I couldn't since I'm gay too." His shoulders were shaking with sobs, but he seemed to start breathing better. "Please smile." I told him with desperation lightly laced in my voice. "I like seeing your smile, please?" I begged.
"I can't. I can't stop thinking about what he said, what he did... GET AWAY FROM ME!" He suddenly screeched. "DON'T HURT ME, PLEASE! DAD, NO!" I carefully grabbed the back of his head and pulled it to my chest.
"Shh. It's alright. Let's get you home." I picked him up, and he wrapped his legs around my hips as if he was a little boy again. I kept saying soothing things to him until exhaustion caught up to him and he fell asleep.
When we got to his house he was still asleep. I checked the front door, it was open so I let us in. I put him in his bed and tucked him in. As I was just about to turn and leave, I kissed his forehead.
"I still like you Danny." I told his sleeping form. "Nothing could change that, certainly not Kevin, nothing. I hope... I hope we're forever." With that I walked out of his room and decided to wait on the couch until he woke up.
~~~
"Jake, c'mon, wake up." I groaned and opened my eyes to see the most gorgeous person squatting in front of me. "Welcome to the land of the living." I smiled at him.
Danny's POV
I woke up in bed, confused. The last thing I remember was being in the park. I got out of bed and walked into the kitchen to get something to eat. I stopped when I saw Jake sleeping on the couch. He's so cute sleeping. I walked over to him and decided that if I didn't wake him up soon the world was going to implode from a cuteness overload.
"Jake, c'mon, wake up." He groaned and opened his eyes. Who gave him permission to have such amazing eyes? One human can't be this perfect. "Welcome to the land of the living." He shot me a sleepy smile. I was nearly about to kiss him when his phone went off. Stupid phone. He dug it out and glared at the screen.
"It's Kevin. I'll be right back." Kevin. Right. I take back that 'stupid phone' comment. It's a good thing it went off.
Jake came storming back in and threw himself on the couch next to me.
"He's wondered where I was. He didn't see me when he broke in so he called me. Possessive asshole."
ONE WEEK LATER
Jake and I had gotten closer again, but one problem still had to be solved. Kevin.
"Hello, Daniel." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Look, I know you're the creepy psychopath, but really? Daniel?" He ignored me.
"Why did you call me here?" He spat.
"I know. I know what you're doing to Jake."
"I'll get him for this." He said through clenched teeth.
"No! I- I have a better idea. I get the feeling you're not going to like my plan but it's either this or the police."
"I'll listen."
"Good answer." I took a deep breath. "Break up with him. He's not happy. Find another toy. I don't care."
"Why should I?" Deep breath Dan. You can do it. Say it.
"Because if you do, I'll- I'll let you take your anger out on me. No relationship, just beat me up. That's my deal." I held my breath while he thought it over.
"Fine."
"Really? Just like that?"
"Well it's either this or jail, so why not? Besides, that means I can finally have some fun." He punched my jaw, knocking me off balance. "Much better. Alright. I'll break up with Jake, find a better boyfriend, and you can be my new punching bag. I think I'm getting the better end of the bargain here." With that, he left.
I pushed myself up and walked back home, a smile on my face. I did it. I freed Jake.
RING RING MOTHERFUCKER
"Hello?"
"DANNYDANNYDANNY YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT JUST HAPPENED!"
"WHAT?" I matched his excited tone.
"KEVIN BROKE UP WITH ME!!" I squealed like I've seen the girls at school do, even if I already knew.
"THAT'S GREAT!" I burst out laughing. "We're acting like someone just asked you out, not dumped you." He started laughing, too.
"We are, aren't we?" God I love his laugh.
"How about you come over and we could celebrate by..." I changed my voice to sound really girly. "Doing hair, painting nails, gossiping about guys, playing truth or dare, it'll be great." He laughed even harder.
"It's a date." I heard the click of him hanging up. I was dumbfounded. Did he just call this a date?
