I tried to forget his smirk when he pulled back.

I tried to forget the entire thing.

But I couldn't.

"PIGGY BACK RIDE!!" I felt Jake attack my back.

"DUDE WHAT THE FUCK!?"

"Aww. Don't be like that." He whined before kissing my cheek. I was glad he was on my back so he couldn't see the blush rise on my cheeks.

"How cute." I turned to see an asshole- of- some- shit- that- the- author- can't- care- to- describe- because- it's- 12:07AM. "The two gays PDAing." I rolled my eyes.

"We're just friends, asshole." I retorted.

"Oh Danny boy, he's caught us, why bother denying it?" Jake teased. "My mom's gone, why don't we go back to my place?" He murmured in my ear. I turned a darker shade of red with his comment.

"Jake!" He jumped off my back.

"I didn't hear a 'no.'" He looked over at the asshole. "If you'll excuse us." He grabbed my arm and dragged me in the direction of my place.

Of course, when we got to my house, we just sat on the couch watching whatever was on TV.

To get comfortable he laid down, putting his head on my lap. Without thinking I moved my hand up and ran my fingers through his hair.

Jake's POV

I closed my eyes, enjoying the feeling of his fingers running through my hair.

I was suddenly hit with the crushing realization that "we're just friends." The realization that we would never do this, that we would never do this. This is a one time thing. I would never feel his hands in my hair. It was unlikely I'd even lay in his lap again.

I felt tears well up and I squeezed my already shut eyes together very tightly, trying to get rid of them.

"Jake?" I felt Dan's fingers pause. "Are you okay?" I didn't say anything. "Why are you crying?"

"I'm not." I denied.

"Yes, you are."

"Nope."

"Pretty sure you are. Did you happen to forget that you're looking up, in my lap?" I rolled so I was pressing my face into his abdomen, stifling a sob. "Jake, you know it's okay to cry." That triggered something inside me and I couldn't stop the sobs from exploding from my chest.

He kept his hand in my hair, soothing me. "You're okay." I hated the fact that he could see my sobs so easily, so I rolled over so he couldn't see my tears.

It soon became hard to keep my eyes open and before I could do anything, I fell asleep.

Danny's POV

When I felt his breathing even out and knew he was sleeping. I looked down at his sleeping form, glad to see he wasn't crying. He flipped onto his back and I felt my heart tug at the sight of the tear streaks and his red swollen eyes. Still, he looked adorable.

"Jake?" He was whimpering in his sleep. "Jake?" He seemed so scared. "Jake, it's alright. You're fine, no one will hurt you." I stroked up and down his arms and cheeks trying to soothe him.

After a few minutes, he seemed to relax again. I kept running my fingers through his hair and up and down his arms, I didn't want to stop.

Watching his steady breathing calmed me, and the rhythm of my hands through his hair lulled me to sleep.

Jake's POV

I woke up and saw Danny sleeping above me. I smiled and closed my eyes again in content.
