It was still early. The sun barely peeked through my window blinds, but the brightness hurt my eyes nonetheless. The only thing that hurt worse right now was how quickly Jack left.

That first time I kissed him, after I woke up to find him above me, I felt my wolf howling and bounding from that kiss alone. I only wanted him to drink my blood. I felt the need in his voice as he whispered that he needed to feed. I wanted to be the only one to provide that, my wolf wouldn't have allowed for anyone else to be bitten by Jack.

I knew this could only mean on thing, but now that I'd come down from the high I knew the Order of the Moon would be pissed if they found out. My wolf was yipping impatiently.

Go get him!

I couldn't.

Please! My wolf pleaded.

I can't! It was tearing me apart, I wanted nothing more than to find Jack and kiss him. I didn't care what he was hiding, I just needed to be with him. My mate...

Now that I had admitted it, my wolf had calmed down. The silence between us spoke words that needed no language to understand. I pushed off my covers and decided to go for a run.

After putting on some clothes I went out the back door and started jogging. Where would I go? I needed some destination... Tyler's place. I could talk to Tyler about what happened, although it's take thirty minutes of running and jogging to get to his place.

Was I still suspicious of Jack? Yes. Did I love him? Hell no, I've only kissed him. He's my mate, not my obligation. Was I nervous about where thing would go from here? Absolutely. I wanted to talk to Signe about Jack, but I don't know her well. I'm not sure how she'd react. She and Jack are close, and I'm not sure if she'd repeat what I tell her. But, Jack has to know I'm his soulmate because he drank from me, unless... No, that rarely happens anyway.

After thirty minutes I finally saw his house. I slowed my pace and walked to his door. I knocked, and waited for a few minutes. I heard clicking as the locks were being unlocked. The door opens to reveal Ethan with a towel wrapped low around his waist, his body was damp with water that dripped off of him. I felt my cheeks heat up with the realization that he and Tyler had probably had a steamy shower.

"Ahem. Hey Ethan. Can I come in?" I asked, wiping the sweat off of my brow.

"Of course man. Sorry that I'm kinda half naked." Ethan apologized. "Tyler! Mark is here so put some clothes on!"

I sat on the couch as Ethan closed the door, and Tyler walked in a few minutes later.

"Hey Mark, what's with the surprise visit?" He asked, sitting down.

"I... Uh. Well, I wanted to... talk to you about something. Something that happened not long ago. Between Jack and I..." I whispered the last part, though I knew he could still hear me.

"Okay, go ahead."

So I told him all of it. I told him about the incident. I told him how I felt, about the kiss, about the way I liked kissing Jack, and the way my wolf reacted to the kiss.

I told him how Jack had left my room, but also how Jack had kissed back. It was embarrassing to tell him the bit where I let Jack drink from me, but I knew I needed to and that he wouldn't judge me.

"Ty, I really think he's my... my mate. My wolf was distraught after Jack left, but once I thought maybe Jack's my mate, he settled down. I will admit, I have had suspicions about Jack, but Marzia wanted me to lay off investigating Jack. That he'd tell me when he was ready."

"Mark, this is a lot to take in. Okay, this question is important, embarrassing, but necessary. At any point did you tell Jack to stop, and how did he react?" Tyler asks as Ethan set down a glass of water beside me.

"Thank you, Ethan. Well, I did tell him to stop at one point. I got dizzy from the sedatives on his teeth, like... Really dizzy. When I told him to stop, he did. Immediately he pulled away." I took a long gulp of the water, looking back at Tyler nervously.

"Huh... Immediately? Did he try to bite you again?"

"No, he didn't. Why?"

"I want to talk with Jack before I say anything. Get both sides of the story, you know?" Tyler pulled Ethan onto his lap and nuzzled him.

"By the way, we're together. If you didn't get that." Ethan chuckled, turning to give Tyler a quick kiss.

"We all had bets on you anyways." I shrugged. "Also, how did you guys find out you were mates?"

Ethan went red and hid behind his hands.

"Do you... know how vampires know who is their mate?" Tyler asked.

"I do."

"How'd you find out?"

"Um..." Now it was my turn to go red. "Well, Jack kinda told me. This was before the drinking..."

"Basically, it happened about three weeks after you introduced me to Tyler. After Tyler got locked up for those four days by those asshole vamps, he came to me ravenous. Obviously he bit me, or else he wouldn't know I was his mate." Ethan explained.

"Huh, okay then. Thanks for talking to me guys, this really helped. I've gotta head back. Amy probably has them tp-ing my house or something, later guys. Tyler, you still need to help me later today. Wanna race back?" I grinned.

"You're on. I'll be back later, Ethan." Tyler kissed Ethan softly, and patted my shoulder. "Let's see if you can keep up."

The events of this morning played over in my head as we ran, like it was on loop, and I still couldn't believe it.

Jack is my mate.
