I've learned my lesson for the day, and that's to never trust a busy person who invites you for a drink.
My friend just invited me to a "friendly" conversation" at the newly opened café across the street. I wasn't really expecting anyone to invite me to a conversation at some place or anything like that. To be honest I only had a few friends and most of them have lately been trying to keep a good amount of distance away from me. I thought, why would he invite me now if he could have done that a long time ago. I accepted the invite anyway.
I got ready and left my apartment and as soon as I stepped outside the building I felt like I haven't left the building for 3 days . . . Oh wait I did stay inside for three days.
I glanced at the newly opened café while walking across the street. It wasn't so bad, the structure was made as if it was a four star café.
Once I entered the café, everyone stared at me as if I was a homeless person. I spotted my friend sitting next to the window, he was still as energetic As I remember and was waving at me like a complete idiot. I sat in front of him and ordered a coffee.
"So how was your summer" he asked
"Great, just great" I lied
After a short conversation with Jay bragging about how awesome his summer was his personality completely changed, his energetic smile turned into a serious frown.
"Chris, you remember the pendant you saw at my house a while back"
I thought about it, then I remembered a beautiful pendant hanging on their wall. I guess that was the pendant.\
"yeah I remember"
"Well, I lost it a few days ago" he said "Does it matter? Its just jewelry, nothing special"
"Actually, It does matter. The pendant is really important, Its been in our family for generations and my grandmother always talks about it having magic and stuff" he explained
"Oh, that's why you wanted me here. So now you want me to help you find it?"
"yeah"
I haven't seen Jay for over a year and now he comes to me out of nowhere and says he wants help. Despite his absence for a year, I would still help him. "alright ill help"
"Great, thanks man. Could we meet here again tomorrow but outside though"
I agreed then he left in a hurry saying he needed to go somewhere. It took me while to realize it until the waiter and gave the bill. I absolutely cant believe this, he invited me but doesn't even pay the bill.
And so I grabbed my wallet, slowly opening it, hoping that I had enough money to pay the bill.
I had just enough money to pay the bill but now I'm broke
I walked out of the café and the sun shined brighter than usual. I grunted as if the sun was going the burn me. I waited by the pedestrian lane waiting for the green signal.
There were no cars driving by at all, so I started jay walking across the street not looking at either sides of the road. A truck honked its horn as it rammed me, knocking me onto the side walk.
Am I dead? I thought.
Finally my miserable life had come to an end........... Wait how am I still thinking? I thought.
I got up and stretched. "Never mind I'm still alive..."
I forgot to mention one tiny bit about myself, I'm already dead.
Yeah I was a walking corpse or as some of my friends call me, Zombie. Not all my friends know about me being a zombie, only Jay and three others know about it.
Being dead wasn't so bad, unless you don't like being stared at and being called a freak after getting beat up and not feel hurt at all. Other than that like as been great. I've been used as target practice, or a punching bag and other stuff like that.
A normal zombie would crave for people and a lot of grunting, well I wasn't like that, I was different.
I walked to the bench and sat.
The people who saw me get hit dropped whatever they were holding and stopped what they were doing. They were shocked with what they had just witnessed.
A man approached me trembling in fear "A-Are you alright?"
"yeah, just a few scratches but ill be fine" I said
He didn't answer back and was looking at me as if he was saying Holy crap is this guy immortal?!
I left him there and headed to the park. I stopped by my apartment to get an umbrella, since I was undead I was really weak when it comes to the brightness of the sun. I hated that part of me being undead. Before I ... Died, I loved going to the park . . . . alone, sadly. Again I don't have much friends. The park I relaxed, covered myself from the sun, stare at a man who looks like he's about to kidnap a child. Wait, what? The man was doing some kind of hand gesture as if he was saying Hey kid I got candy for ya.
I patted him on the back then he quickly looked at me. I thought "well he looks like a nice guy" The man grabbed a knife from his pocket and made a hand across the neck gesture, then he stabbed me smiling like a madman. Still smiling he stabbed me again, and again, and again.
He started laughing and made the creepiest face I've ever seen. He continued stabbing me "Sir, could you please cut that out"
Well would you look at that, he stopped. But then pulled out a gun and pointed it at me. I was relieved that he stopped stabbing me, but when he pointed the gun at me, nope I couldn't take it anymore so I smacked the gun away from his hand and pushed him. But the push may have made him fly across the park. The man ended up dying but hey, he did try to kill me.
How did I manage to push him across the park and kill him you ask? Well ever since I died and turned into an undead man, my strength massively increased. I don't know how it happened but it did.
Oh man, I think I've taken a little too much holes to the stomach. Blood was dripping from my stomach to the floor making a blood trail. Once my stomach healed I left the park hoping no one saw what I did.
I didn't feel bad for the guy at all, if he was just there kidnapping children and killing people, someone had to stop him. The cops arrived and a person who witnessed it all, pointed at me and I think she told them I was a murderer. The two cops started chasing me while two others stayed. I ran to the nearest alley and jumped to the roof leaving them confused.
I jumped roof to roof while holding my umbrella. One more building and ill reach my apartment but I had to take a massive leap.
"alright here we g-"
"stop right there!!" a cop screamed behind me
Again with the gun pointed at me. I don't know how he was able to get up here so quickly but that didn't really matter right now.
"look I just want to go back to my apartment and take my short nap (by short nap I mean a nap for the rest of the day)"
"Don't move!" he continued to scream while calling for backup on his radio. As he was talking I slowly backed up to the edge ready to jump.
Suddenly a friend of mine who had wings grabbed me from behind and dragged me across the sky.
"Peter, thanks for the lift"
"Don't mention it, also STOP DAYDEAMING!!!" he yelled
I came back to my senses, um never mind that it was just another one of my fantasies. I admired Peters ability to fly, well I could jump high in the sky but I couldn't do it without landing with broken legs.
ALRIGHT, enough about myself, now back to the scene. I could hear the police running up the stairs, I had to jump. I gripped my umbrella and leaped to the other building behind my apartment. I jumped down and heard a cracking noise, probably just my ankles. Finally I got back to my apartment, hopefully none of the police don't know where I live.
