Jimin POV

I heard the doorknob jiggle open and a tired Hoseok dragged himself through the door, his shoulders slumped.

"Hey Hobi," I called, not really expecting a greeting in return due to his state. Hobi was never this tired and worn out, always full of life and energetic. Maybe he just spent all his energy at the studio, he always dances like it's his last day to live.

"I'm gonna go to sleep early," he simply muttered, making his way into his room and partially pulling the door closed and flopping down on the bed.

I was worried about him. I mean, it's none of my business to worry about why he was so tired and stressed out lately. I lazily stirred the contents of the pan, turning off the heat and pushing it to the side.

I flopped down onto the couch and sighed, covering my arm with my eyes. I shut them and let my thoughts drift away, and I was almost asleep until I heard a soft sob from Hobi's room.

My eyes fluttered open and I got up and put my ear against the wall to his bedroom. I heard him choke out another muffled sob through the wall, and I pouted.

What could possibly get Hobi to be so sad? I wanted to find out the truth.

I gently wrapped my knuckles on the door twice. "Hobi-hyung, are you okay?"

No response.

"I'm coming in." I pushed the door open and closed it behind me. Hobi's eyes were red and puffy, and he was covering half his face with the blanket of his bed. I couldn't bear to see him like this. I walked over to him, pulling down the blanket to reveal his face and cupped it with my hand. "Hyung, what's wrong?"

"I don't really want to talk about it." He mumbled, not looking up at me. Another tear slid down his cheek and I wiped it away with my thumb. "You wouldn't get it."

Hoseok POV

"Please tell me Hobi," he pouted and pulled my chin up for us to make eye contact. "Maybe I can help you."

I looked into his eyes, full of hope and sympathy. I knew those eyes, those kind, loving eyes. My mother's eyes.

Flashback

I was 9 years old at the time. I curled up against the wall, whimpering as I heard shouts and hits. They've probably forgotten about me by that point, always fighting.

I crawled up to the door, cracking it open. I saw my drunk father beating and shoving my mother, throwing her against the wall. He stopped for enough time for my mom to spare a glance at me, and fear struck in her eyes.

"Eomma? What's going on?" I called, eyeing my father's fist.

"Don't worry about it, Hoseok, Eomma will take care of it." She ushered for me to close the door and I obeyed, sliding down against the wall next to the door. The yelling continued as I rubbed the tears out of my eyes with my hands.

"How could you let your own son go into such a low paying job? Dance is for the streets!"

My own father didn't approve of who I wanted to be.

"Let him do what he wants, he's just a kid! Keep him out of this!"

"I can't believe you encouraged him to do it! As his father, I want him to have a good career!"

"Well, if you don't like what he wants to be, you don't deserve to be his father! You were the one who wanted a child, who you can't even take care of!"

I heard a slap and a glass bottle breaking. I cracked the door open ever so slightly. I saw my father grip onto her neck.

"No matter what you do, I'm still going to be his father." he gritted his teeth. My mother shoved him off.

"Then we'll leave. I can't bear my own son living in this environment, imagine what it's like for him." She spared him one last hopeless glance before she headed towards my door, pulling it open and scooping me up.

"Eomma, what's happening?" I asked as she threw our belongings into a bag and went out the door as it started to rain. We took shelter under a bus stop.

"Appa's a bit upset. We're going away for a while." She ran a hand through my hair and gave me a sad smile.

"You look hurt." I watched the blood dripping down from her temple.

"I'm okay, baby." She pulled me into a hug. She drew circles in my back to calm me down. "We'll be okay."

I snuggled into her and shut my eyes, drifting off to sleep in her warmth and waking up to her cold.

End of Flashback

I sobbed uncontrollably, wrapping my arms around Jimin and hugging him tightly. He did the same as I nestled my head into the crook of his neck.

"My father didn't accept me doing dance for a career. He abused my mother for letting me do it." He held me tighter. "She was the only one that cared at the time. Even I didn't love myself at the time."

"Hobi, don't say that. I'm sure you had others who cared for and loved you." Jimin ran his hands through the back of my hair. One of my hands fisted his shirt while my other gripped his shoulder.

He kissed my temple and I was taken aback for a moment.

"Hyung?" he asked.

"Yes?"

"I'll be the one who'll care for you if no one else will." he took my hand in his and I felt my cheeks burn. He pressed a kiss to my forehead, then my nose, my cheeks, then finally my lips.

It just felt right, at the time.
