Chapter 2 : He's cute
THE SUN PEEKED THROUGH my open window, and my curtains blew softly in the light wind. As I came to, I replayed last nights events in my head with a slight frown. I knew I shouldn't have even let him in. I shouldn't have to play these stupid games.
As I sat in bed thinking everything over, and waiting for myself to wake up I remembered vaguely that I had work soon.
I groaned, getting up and showering. I put my work clothes on and rushed out the door in a hurry. Soon enough I arrived at my only source of income, the only movie theater in town. I shuffled slowly, dreading the next eight hours.
"Hello gorgeous." A good friend of mine Sarah greeted me.
"Hey love." I said not to happily.
"Get your little butt in gear girl, you have to train the newbie." She said, her blue contact eyes looking over to her right.
I followed her gaze to meet eyes with a hazel eyed God. He was tall, mocha skin like Ivan's and clearly a nice body under his uniform.
"Hello ladies, I was told I was going to be trained by a, Vera?" His velvety voice asked expectantly. His eyes drifted down my body a little to obviously, and then when he noticed our questioning gazes he threw one of the sexiest apologetic smiles.
"I'm Vera." I stated.
"Lovely name by the way, I'm Calvin." He offered his hand, and I took it. His handshake was strong, and I almost melted from his touch.
After our introductions, I showed him the basics, and we flirted harmlessly through out it.
"So do you go to school around here?" He asked, eyeing me with his luscious hazel eyes.
"School as in college?"
"Yea, I go to the community college up the road, and I was wondering why I haven't seen someone as gorgeous as yourself on campus."
"Yea, I umm, don't go to college. I just have to much on my plate." I looked away, not really liking the question to begin with. School was a tough subject, I always planned to go to college. Hell, I even made A and B honor roll through out high school. Of course, drama, partying and so forth just got in the way of me even attempting college. That wasn't a good excuse, I know.
"Well, if you ever want to, you know tour the campus, see your options let me know. My Aunt works there, and I'd be happy to help." He smiled a gorgeous smile and I couldn't help but return it.
During our lunch break he offered to take me and Sarah out, and when I politely refused, Sarah practically dragged me along.
I sat next to Sarah and we all ordered from Pronto's.
We told stories, well mostly they did and I sat back and enjoyed my time out with my coworkers, giggling at their silly stories and having an overall good time.
"We NEED to go clubbing like soon Vera." Sarah said to me.
"Yea, yea soon." I picked at my food.
"I'm dead ass, no more excuses. We need to have a good time."
"Could I join?" Calvin asked, joining into our little charade.
"Could you ever." Sarah smirked, googly eyeing him.
I giggled, "Well if he's in than I'm in." I winked at him, and his smile was a little to happy.
"Alright, Saturday night it's going down." We all agreed.
A flirtatious smile played on Calvin's lips as he eyed me the rest of the day, and I couldn't help but enjoy the new attention.
After work, I found a orange sticky note on my driver's window.
'Vera, I don't want to look creepy but I asked which car is yours and your friend Sarah was happy to oblige.' Along side it was his number, and a huge smiley face next to it.
How cute.
I drove home, and spent the night drinking my little heart out, still upset over last night. I occasionally texted Calvin, and tried texting Ivan. Even with a cute guy, no one could possibly cure my heart break from Ivan.
Not even one call from him today, hell he won't even reply back to my texts!
Suddenly, my roommate Vanessa who rarely made an appearance burst throw the door in a drunken state and in a fit of giggles, with a guy hanging onto her waist whispering into her ear.
She wore a short black dress and high heels to match, probably coming back from Club Glowz
"Vera! My girl how you been?" She noticed me curled up on the couch cradling my bottle of vodka.
I took a swig before replying.
"Nun much, where you been?"
"You know, around."
I tried not to make a snide remark at her reply and gave her a slight smile. She turned to her boy toy sloppily kissing him and dragging him up the stairs.
If I didn't get sleep from Ivan invading my thoughts, I'd sure wouldn't get sleep from her bedroom escapades.
I sighed, taking my ass up to bed and passing out.
