Skypaw glanced warily around the camp, hoping that nobody would see him. He was going out to meet Silverpaw again. It had been almost a moon since the time that he had first visited her, and since then he had went to the border about every other night. Seeing that nobody was looking in his direction, he set off at a brisk pace toward the ShadowClan border. He thought he saw a flash of white fur, but shook the thought away. But he couldn't help feeling apprehensive at the thought that somebody was watching him. After a while of waiting in the dark territory, Silverpaw finally appeared. "There you are! I was starting to worry that you wouldn't come."

Silverpaw looked at him warmly. "I was just finishing some of the camp chores. You know how long they can sometimes take." Skypaw nodded.

"So what would you like to-" He was cut off by a rustling in the bushes. "Get down!" he ushered Silverpaw. Looking closely through the bushes, he saw white fur and green eyes.

"Skypaw?" It was Cloudpaw. He seemed angry, as if he already knew what Skypaw had been doing.

Skypaw got up, with Silverpaw right next to him. "Cl-Cloudpaw!" He stuttered. "I-I was- I was just...." His voice trailed away.

"There's no need for excuses," Cloudpaw told him coldly. "You've been meeting her at night. I followed you the first time you went, wondering what you were doing. I only stayed silent because I thought that you would realize that what you're doing was wrong. But here you are, still talking to her, still visiting, still playing."

Skypaw felt as if he was hit by a monster. He had no excuses. "I-I," he stuttered again.

Cloudpaw interrupted. "Can't you see that what you're doing is wrong? Can't you see that she's from ShadowClan and you're from RiverClan? Can't you see that you shouldn't be meeting her almost every night?" Cloudpaw's gaze softened. "Come on, let's forget all this and go back to camp."

Skypaw was at a loss for words. Silverpaw stepped forward. "That's enough. Can't you see that he doesn't care if he's breaking the warrior code?"

That's not true! I-It's not like that! We were only playing! But he couldn't make himself say anything out loud. Finally, after taking a few breaths, he mewed, "I... I want to stay with Silverpaw."

Cloudpaw glared at him. "Fine. Don't say I didn't warn you, though. Somebody else is bound to find out, and you'll be punished." And with that, he turned away and went back to camp."

What decision did I just make? he thought. "Come on, don't let him get to you." Silverpaw was walking towards him. "He doesn't understand."

But he couldn't help thinking otherwise.
