The burial had ended and now we watched as the Rutherfords stood forward wiping their tears away. Josh let out a tear but stood brave. Then they began to walk back to were all of us were sitting and also eating. Josh walked to some friends and I saw him laugh with them. He's very close with kyle especially since they've been neighbours too. I plugged my earphones back in and after a few minutes of music I recognise a voice talking to me. Pulling out my earphones I look up and snap back to reality when I look at Josh's face again but he's not sad but is suprisingly smiling I am confused at to why he is smiling so randomly. "What are you smiling at?" I ask curiously.
"You're just a fun person. Even without trying you are hilarious and I mean that as a compliment incase you found it offensive in any-" he confirmed while raising one hand iut of his suit pocket and keeping the other in. I never had a chance to appreciate his good looks I watched him run a hand through his short blonde hair.

"It's okay I appreciate it no one has ever described me has funny or even friendly" I replied avoiding eye contact. Don't look at eyes.

"Where are you're friends you usually hang out with? Are they not here? You seem to be missing them a bit too much, you had a lot to say earlier must have a lot to say to them." He said tried to reatrain our conversation.

"Oh no I don't have friends" I said smiling politely. A look of shock covered his face and then he masked his shock with empathy "Oh God, I'm sorry, I never meant to be rude I had no idea you-" He quickly convinced me he was sorry.
Laughing at now his own awkward interaction.

My mother called out my name and gestured for me to come over.

"My mom's calling me, I've got to go, bye." I say goodbye and approach my mother.

Her face grew into a huge smile and she hugged me. After what seemed like a minute of breaking my ribs she looks at me. "Honey, I've been watching you talk to Josh for minutes, you haven't talked to anyone like that. Are the two of you friends? Is he your first friend?" My mum became excited but still tried to remain quiet. I looked up and the people around us and none if them were paying attention to my mother. I drifted off and watched Josh talk to kyle and laugh, kyle's dimples would be on show when he smiled or laughed.

"Now go back and talk to him, get his number so you can arrange hang outs. If you don't I swear I will."
My mother warned.

"Ew mom do you understand how much i'm cringing? Who in the the heck 'arranges a hang out'? and I'll never go out again if you ask Josh anything for me." I replied needing to get away before she says anything else. I ran towards the buffet table and looked at what was available. I picked up a pretty looking cake but-
"Eww is jam in everything?" I mumbled to myself.
"No, actaully the chocolate bites are just small cut brownies." A voice said from beside me. I turned around to look. "Hi!" Josh said too happily there is something up with him almost as if he was stoned? Oh God he was stoned. The spacing out, laughing too much, and the slow responses.

"Oh my God Josh are you high?" I whispered closer to him and backed away. He was suprised and opened his mouth quickly trying to say something.

"Am I allowed to take you somewhere away from here?"he asked and I held up a finger and ran to my mum. After getting her confirmation I jogged back to Josh. "Yes" I reply.

"Let's get out of here and if you don't mind kyle is coming with us." He said while smiling back.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked curious as to where.

"It's- actually you can wait and see" He refrained from telling me making me even more curious as to why.

"So you want me to hang out with you?" I asked internally excited that I'm hanging out with someone.

"Yeah, and it's also because I really want to get out of this place." He said smiling as he lead the way and I followed behind him.
