As soon as Laria and the guards left, the door was closed leaving me alone with the madman in front of me. He looked up, cradling a sprained wrist, and smirked at Eira.
"Tell anyone my secret, you'll get a lot worse than your friend over there" his eyes flickered with malice as he stalked over to me. "but I'll give you a little warning right now" He continued walking towards me as she backed into the corner, afraid.
As I hit the back of the wall, he pounced. He jumped toward Eira, pinning her to the wall and punched her multiple times. Eira let out a shrill scream and started kicking out at him, blocking her mind from whatever he could do.
"HELP!" she screamed out, kicking at the man laughing maniacly in front of her. Seven guards burst in, grabbing the man and managing to successfully restrain him. One guard, a woman, came up to her and helped her up, walking her out of the cell where she then saw Laria.
"LARIA!" Eira screamed in her state of panic "ARE YOU OKAY?!?" and started struggling towards her unconscious friend. "LET ME GO TO HER!" Eira cried out, kicking and screaming to get out of the guards' grasp. Finally, one of the guards had enough and knocked his baton against the back of her head, knocking her out cold.
Eira woke up, feeling sharp, pain through her skull. Her vision was blurry and she had a general ache that she hadn't felt since she first Shifted. She tried to move, but cried out from the sharp pain that moved through her body.
Her vision started clearing, and she saw a lone figure standing by the foot of her bed. Her first thought was it was Laria, bit she than realized that Laria was more than likely in the hospital with a broken arm that the psychopath they had shared a cell with gave to her.
Suddenly, she realized it was the boy who was about a year older than herself. She gasped in surprise and croaked out "wh-why are you here?" he looked down at her and smiled, his eyes-one amber and one silver-stared back into the eyes that mirrored his own.
Eira felt a new link trying to push its way into her mind and looked at the boy inquisitivly. He nodded at her, and she let the link in, suddenly hearing an unfamiliar voice. 'I wonder if she'll let me in? We haven't even talked, why would she let me into her mind? Does she really not remember-?' and suddenly, his eyes went wide as he realized the link was accepted.
'Can you hear me?' he questioned, looking at her with wide eyes. 'yes' she linked back, trying not to move as pain once again shot through her body.
'If any of those morons even touch you again, call me over, okay?' he said with concern lacing his mental voice. She nodded an awnser and watched him turn and leave 'don't worry, I have your back. And the other girl's' were his departing words as he disappeared.
'Oh my gosh! You two would be perfect together!' Laria squealed basically into her brain. 'LARIA!' Eira mentally yelled at her friend 'YOU COULD HEAR US?!?' In response, Laria mentally laughed.
'wait... people can only listen in on other people's conversations if they're family or they left the link open' the boy broke into their conversation, laughing. 'well then how are you in here?' Eira snapped back, starting to get a headache. 'you left the link open.' he stated matter-of-factly.
'well!' she sputtered 'you were the one to open the link in the first place! And I've never had a double link, or had to close a link, for that matter, so can you please GO!' Eira was mad, tired, and overall annoyed with the amount of energy her brain had needed to keep up with the morons.
She felt the two immediately fade from neurological existence and go neck into their own minds; Laria in particular laughing as she left. Eira sighed in relief. 'just me and my good friend silence' she thought as she let her mind wander over all of her problems.
Just as Eira started to loose consciousness, a large shadow appeared over her. It blocked the light from reaching her and planted dread in the pit of her stomach. She opened her eyes to see the woman who was one of her first attackers standing over her with an ice dagger.
"your kind killed my parents, my sister, my son, and you shall pay! You are an abomination to society! You are dangerous! Your kind can't be trusted!" she yelled maniacly, waving her arms around. She had a crazed look in her eye. The woman looked down around Eira, smirking sadistically at the thought of Eira dying.
Eira looked the woman directly in the eye. "My great grandmother was a Shifter, and she was the Dutchess of Azovia and she was murdered brutally by the people she had nearly sacrificed her life to a those years ago. My friend, Laria. All but one ever of her grandparents were murdered in the mobs. You think you were treated unfairly? I have just as much of a right to kill you as you do to kill me, but you don't see me going around killing people, do you?" Ire took a long breath, waiting for the woman's awnser as she called out desperately over the mental links for either of her friends to come over, preferably the boy who was conscious. She finally heard footsteps coming down the hall and to the room she was in. The door burst open and the boy walked into the room.
Along with four guards.
The woman fought and struggled, trying to get to me as the guards restrained her. One of the guards, the woman who had helped Ire out of her cell once she was attacked, managed to get the woman's hands close enough to handcuff. The iron bracelets snapped onto the woman's wrists, incapatating her.
"I will kill you!" the woman snarled at her, and then was forcefully escorted out. As soon as only she and the mysterious boy were left, Eira burst into sobs. The boy awkwardly comforted her as she broke down in front of him. Eira let out a short and humourless laugh and said a single line: "Fists and clones can break my bones, but words can also hurt me too, you know"
