The further he walked down the hallway, the dimmer the lights became as their flickering got out of control. With another exaggerated sigh, he brought the cigarette to his lips yet a third time as he finally neared the guard.
No greeting was necessary, as the doctor could let himself in with the swipe of a card. As the gates closed behind him, he could only mask his fear with another drag and a look of fatigue.
Out of the whole week, he'd only received at least 10 hours of sleep and tonight's emergency call was no help. It was much too early- 3 AM to he exact- to be flipping through files and basically walking into hell.Everybody called Room 623 hell. Not one doctor could handle the patient, apparently. From the stories and the facts he now read in between the Manila folder, he understood true fear now that it was his turn.
"HEELLP MEEE!" The blood curdling screams resonated from behind the metal door Kouyou found himself in front of. Chokes upon gagging and yelling overlapped, nearly deafening the poor psychiatrist before he finally slid open the slot to peer inside.
To his surprise, the entire space was empty except for the bed in the corner.
Upon that bed sat the dark haired boy, howling at the top of his lungs as if the main objective was to tear his vocal chords apart.
Pity weld up inside the doctor who could only stare at the kid in astonishment, his tear streaked face pulling against what Kou now realized was a chain. He was chained to the wall like a wild dog, tied in a straight jacket, never to be free.
Kou throws the cigarette to the ground, stomping it out in defeat before turning the other way."Dr. Shima?"
"Yes?" He whips around to the guard.
"You may want this. It'll knock him out in seconds. It's just in case."
A needle of tranquilizer was held before him."Thank you." And with that, the doctor slowly unlocked his way into the room.
