The day came- a rainy Tuesday morning as he made that long, treacherous walk back down to Room 623.
Now that the poor doctor basically had every fact about his patient memorized, all he really needed was a simple pad of paper and pen with high hopes to get few words out of Shiroyama.

Before entering of course, he slid open the small slot to see him sprawled across the bed sleeping. It would hurt to have to wake him up like this, but curiosity does kill the cat...
The door creaked a little too loudly as he walked inside, luckily getting no rise from him before pulling a rusted chair from the other side closer to the sleeping boy.

"Mr. Shiroyama?"

"Yuu." The latter growls with his eyes closed.

"I'm sorry?"

"Just... call me Yuu!"

"Alright." The butterflies eat at his stomach while taking the seat, pen in hand. "Yuu, do you know what day it is?"

"... Who cares..?"

"I'm so sorry to wake you like this, but I'm bu-"

"No you're not." His eyes finally snap open as they look each other dead on. "You're not. You're not sorry!"

"I'm real busy today, and this is the only time I'll have with you... I really wanted to talk to you." This seemed to make Yuu's hardened features soften, giving the doctor some hope as he dug in with questions.
"I've been reading your file-"

"Of course you have. They all do, it's your job."

"Well, I know there's ... something..." The doctor trailed off, noticing for sure now how young Yuu really did look. It was all too real but it felt like a dream.. or a nightmare, really.

"What?"

"... Do you know who Takanori Mastumoto is?"
The air fell silent. The only thing filling the empty silence was the rain slamming up against the window as Yuu's eyes bore into Kouyou, sending shivers down his spine. He couldn't move, speak or even breath as his gaze had them both frozen in that moment of time.
At last the chained raven sat up, locks of ebony falling all around him as he did so. The honey blonde also adjusted himself in his chair, bracing for any remark Yuu was about to make. Obviously it was the wrong question to ask.

"How do you know about Moto?"

"H-his documents, recordings, and entries about you are in the file. I read them all. I'm very worried about you-"

"Does he still work here?" Yuu chokes. Tears had begun to well up in his eyes, an obvious emotional attachment to his past psychiatrist. Kouyou had noticed, quickly taking note.

"I'm afraid he doesn't." He speaks after a minute. "I've never heard of him. But if it makes you feel any better, I myself plan to get in touch with him."

"Why would you do that?" The cold tone had returned, Kouyou falling back on his last word.

"Would you not like me to?" He swallows hard.

"No."

"I see."
It was a lie, of course.
He had to know what the doctor had seen. What that man had experienced. The writings weren't enough. He just hoped he wasn't too old or lived too far away.
"I'm worried about you."

"Why?!" Yuu snapped, keeping his eyes averted elsewhere.
Then, out of true empathy, the doctor slowly made his way over to Yuu as he then sits on the edge of his bed, paper still in hand.
The raven in return is confused that Kouyou would do such a thing after he nearly jumped out of the wall and attacked him.

"It's says you were sent here 20 years ago and I know damn well you weren't a baby at the time! Look, you never eat and sit here screaming all day. For a man who gets no nutritional value but still manages to look half his age is inhuman. Yuu, I need to know. Everything..." The doctor was running out of words and struggled to explain himself as looked into his patient's eyes. "You can tell me whatever you want. I'm here to help you. There's nothing to hide 'cause I've already read your file, but I'm not judging. I don't blame you.."

"Don't blame me!? I murdered people!"

"You did more than murder them. But I desperately want to help you."

"What did you write about me?" Yuu motions to the pad of paper.

"Not much."

"I want to see."
Without hesitation, Kouyou grabs the notepad, holding it before his face as he watched Yuu's eyes flicker across the page.
"You didn't call me insane..."

"I want to help you."

"Do you really? Or do you just want that fat paycheck at the end of the week?" His voice was always laced with venom no matter how kindly someone approached him. But after sitting in the basement of a mental institution for 20 years, who could blame him?

What really confused the blonde was his patient's sudden outburst prior to the panting.

"You're too close." He cries suddenly. "Please-! Get away!"

"A-alright." The doctor stumbles backwards off the bed as Yuu's animalistic characteristics return, now pulling at the chain with all his might yet keeping his distance. "I'm sorry."

"Yeah? And I'm hungry! I'M HUNGRY!!" There it was. He was just as ruthless as the night Kouyou first saw him.
The boy continued to groan in pain and drastically rock back and forth on his knees. Before the blonde finally left, he was able to catch those tears finally stream Yuu's face- the sight nearly breaking his heart, but he had no other choice than to close the door on him.

How would he ever help if he didn't even know where to start?
