"You... want to kiss me?" Murdoc managed to mumble as his eyes widened.
The kitten only nodded at his question, his eyes staring back into Murdocs though there was something gentle in them as they looked back at each other. It was like the boy was looking right into his soul and something about that unnerved him, yet at the same time it was oddly comforting. Murdoc couldn't remember the last time someone had gotten him this close to being nervous, feeling like a teenager again though really he wasn't too far off from it. He supposed it would have happened eventually though with how weak the boy seemed to make him.
Murdoc moved his hand up slowly to cup the boys cheek, running his thumb against the soft skin below his finger. He couldn't help himself from sighing softly at that, there were a million thoughts running through his head in that moment and as much as he wanted it for some reason he couldn't bring himself to admit it. I can't do it, he'd think, there's too much to worry about, what if Paula returned and took Stuart away? Admitting he was this fond of the boy only to have him taken out of his reach wasn't something he could handle.
"Stu, sweetheart. I... I don't think that's the best idea right now." He reasoned. "There's so much going on, who knows what could happen."
"Why does that matter here?" Stuart frowned. "We're not at the future yet, right now matters..."
"Because the future will come. What we do now will affect that."
"Yeah but I still want to now."
"We're not even home Stu, what if someone came in?"
"I know that but it's the middle of the night and...." Stuart sighed this time, slipping away from murdoc to lay back on his side of the bed. "Never mind.. I'm gonna sleep.."
"I didn't mean it like that, I wasn't saying no, just not now."
Stuart didn't answer him, Murdoc watched as the boy laid back in his spot, his breathing somewhat uneven as if he was upset and he felt like an absolute asshole but he still laid down himself not too long after, his back turned to the kitten. It didn't usually take long for him to sleep but tonight it seemed to be avoiding him at every turn and it wasn't until about an hour later when he felt the boy settle behind him that he finally stood from the bed.
Food was always comforting to him, food and beer but the second would have to wait for now since he wasn't even in his own home at the moment. That seemed to be the biggest point for him, they weren't even in their own home at the moment how could Stuart expect them to kiss? He reasoned the boy was still a little unaware of what wasn't exactly normal to do in society though he did have a point odds are no one would have come in. They'd been quiet enough that no one had seemed to have woken up.
"What are you doing in here man it's almost 3 in the morning?" Murdoc almost jumped out of his skin at the sound of Russels voice behind him.
"God, Russ, you're terrifying."
"It's what I'm here for." Russel chuckled at the reaction. "Now, should I ask again?"
"No I just...came in for some water." Murdoc shrugged, going to grab a glass from the shelf.
"Sounds like you just made that up."
"So what if I did?" Murdoc frowned, glancing over his shoulder. "Is it your business?"
"In my house? Yeah. It is." Russel shook his head, moving to sit at the table. "I've got a kid here after all."
"Oh whatever you know I wouldn't do anything to her, you're all safe." Murdoc rolled his eyes as he filled his glass.
