The cold breeze hit his face as he sat before the piano, feeling the intense gaze of the audience as he placed his fingers on top of the keys.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, moving his lips near the microphone.
"For you."
He pressed the keys.
"Good morning." dad's soft smile always made my day. But I always saw through the forced ones. He moved closer and planted a kiss on my forehead.
The sight was overwhelming.
In the middle of the song, he heard cheers and claps. But that didn't matter - he acted as if he was playing it to the most important person in his life. Because he knew that if that was the scenario, he would play it most beautifully.
'What's the matter?' I signed, eyeing the people in front of me. Though everyone I was close to was there, my gaze couldn't help but drop on Jimin - who kept on crying.
"You're going to be okay!" Hoseok spoke up, his voice cracking. He suddenly toned down, "It will be the last medicine you'll need."
When he pressed the last set of keys, the crowd stood up. And that's when he saw the true appreciation of the audience. Even the contestants gave him a standing ovation.
It gave him confidence.
My lips curled into a smile, and out of instinct, I clapped my hands.
'Is it going to hurt like the others?' I signed to Dad.
He wiped some tears on his cheeks, "No." he takes a deep breath. "It'll put you to sleep, and when you wake up, you'll be okay again." he moved closer and planted another long kiss on top of my head. "I love you.. so, so much, Ayumi."
"It'll make everything okay." Jimin reassured. "It won't hurt anymore. And then you get to dance again. I promise. You'll be okay." he wasn't crying anymore, and I felt him squeeze my hand.
Were they that happy for me?
'Why are you crying?' I typed into Jimin's phone.
"Because it was so out of a sudden," Minjun sighed heavily, turning his head away.
"Yeah." Hoseok nodded. "But Ayumi.. don't forget.. alright?"
Forget.. what?
It ended soon. And he felt his heart beat faster as one of the judges made their way to the stage, holding the card to announce the winner, a staff member behind him with the trophy.
"You look ugly when you cry." Namjoon pointed out, a small smile on his face. "Come on, smile for us. Yoongi won the recital."
.. Really?
"Hmm." Jimin nodded.
Doctor Yang walked inside the room, a group of doctors behind her. "Ayumi.. are you ready for the last stage of your treatment, dear?"
"I think this contestant performed best." the judge spoke through the microphone. "With so much emotion, it was a memorable performance. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this music recital,"
They all flashed me reassuring smiles, and I couldn't help but smile even wider.
I clapped my hands and nodded excitedly.
"Min Yoongi!"
She held my hand for a bit, flashing me another smile as she pressed a kiss on top of my head. "Have a peaceful rest, Ayumi. I'm so, so sorry."
