Victoria hummed quietly to herself as she made her way through the hotel's corridor towards his room.

By this point, she had made the trip so many times that she no longer had to look at each door's number to find Elijah's. She twisted the cold metal door handle and stepped inside, not bothering to knock.

"Hey, Fabio," Tori called out to the man who stood shirtless with his back to her, "hurry up and get dressed. I want to – "

"Victoria," he inhaled sharply as he turned around, blood dripping from his lips as he spoke, "I wasn't expecting you yet."

Her bright big green eyes looked down at the mangled body on the ground and tears began to well up in her eyes.

"What the hell," she let out a shaky breath. "Did you do this? Oh my god. Oh my god!"

"I couldn't control myself," Elijah answered honestly, his voice eerily calm. "Victoria, you cannot tell anyone. It will not end well if you do."

"No, no. An innocent person just died because of you. I can't not tell someone."

"I'll pay you," he let a sigh out in desperation. "I will do anything – "

"Do you honestly think that the only reason I'm still here is because I want your money?" For a moment Tori let go of the fact that Elijah had just killed an innocent person as she scoffed. "I used to think that having a lot of money would make me happy – I was wrong. I have more money than I know what to do with and I have never felt more empty."

"Then why are you here?"

"Are you really that blind?" Her eyebrows shot up and she rolled her eyes. "I care about you. Or at least I thought I did. God, I cannot believe I almost fell for a psychotic murderer!"

As soon as the words had fallen from her lips, Elijah was filled with regret.

She cared about him.

Perhaps if he had known this earlier he would have tried to keep his bloodlust in check.

"Do you want me to explain? Because I can, but I have to warn you now, your entire belief system is about to change."

"I don't want an explanation. No you can keep your explanation and shove it up your ass." Victoria began to walk towards the door. "You killed someone, Elijah. What in the hell is wrong with you?"

"No, please," he whispered as the door clicked shut.

It was too late, Tori had slipped through his fingers before he could even realise that he was holding her.

His deep brown eyes began to fill up with tears, and they soon resembled a river as the flowed freely down his face.

For the first time in nearly a year, Elijah Mikaelson cried. All because she was gone, and had left behind nothing but a faint sillage of French perfume.
