Chapter 2- New Shoes?

Sam's POV

"Samantha! Get down here!" My sister calls out for me. I roll my eyes and walk down the creaky steeps. "What?" I ask, folding my arms across my chest.

"Mom and dad thinks it's time for you to get new shoes. Those ugly little vans have to go" she said with a snobby attitude.

As always.

"Fine, I'll be ready in 20 minutes" I say and walk back to my room. Once I'm at a far enough distance, I whisper to myself;

"This is gonna be a terrible day"

Logan's POV

"I'm gonna grab a slushy right quick, want one?" I asked my friend Jackson. He nods his head no. I head towards the food court and order a blue raspberry slushy. As I turn around, I bump into this girl with dark brown hair that flows down her back. Her freckles are very much visible, and her dimples pop right out when she smile.

It's Samantha.

"Uh sorry! I'm just a little clumsy" I say, my words coming out unusually calm. "No worries dude, I also bumped into you so I'm sorry too" she said. Her voice is so calming that it makes me relax. "Well! That's my order. See you around maybe?" I ask and she nods. "Maybe" she said, a smile on her face. She walks away leaving me all alone.

I run over to Jackson. "Dude! That's Samantha!" I say enthusiastically. He eyes widen as he eats on his fro-yo. "Really? The one you're texting?" He asked. I smile and nod my head yeah.

"And she didn't, like, say anything? After all she doesn't know who you are! Were you flirtatious in any way, shape, or form?" He asked. I nod my head no.

"Well, I said, 'See you around, maybe' and she smiled and replied, 'Maybe'. Does that mean anything?" I asked in a panic.

Since when was I so caught up in a girl?

"Go over there and ask her out! If she say no, then she's a keeper." Jackson recommended.

I walk over to Panda Express where she is currently eating chicken fried rice and egg rolls.

"Uh, I know this is awkward but I was wondering if one day, you and I could hang?" She looks up and wipes her mouth with a napkin. "Like a date?" She asked.

Like a date? Just say no so I can love you through messages!

"Yeah, sorta. Get to know each other on a better level than just bumping past each other" I say and scratch the back of my neck.

"Sorry, I can't. I'm kinda talking to someone right now. But tell you this, I'll give you my number and we can hang as friends. I'm pretty sure Logan won't mind" she say and I smile. "Alright, cool! I'm Jalen by the way" I say, making up a random name on the spot.

"I'm Samantha, but you can call me Sam" she exclaims. I smile at her enthusiasm. "I have my friend Jackson with me, let me go get him and I'll introduce you two" I say and run over to him.

"Well?" He questions. I smile. "She's a keeper! But long story short, I told her my name was Jalen and that I could be her friend." I say and his eyes widen. "Why would you do that!" She whisper yelled. "I just wanna hang with her, you know, without her knowing I'm who's she's talking to" I say.

"Why don't you just tell her the truth? That you're Logan" Jackson asked.

"I don't tell her because-" I stopped. Taking in a breath, I finish my sentence.

"I don't want her heart broken..."
