Sam's POV

"Sam, this is Jackson. Jackson, Sam" Jalen introduces us. "Nice to meet you, Jax. Wait, can I call you Jax?" I ask. I'm not rude, you know.

"Sure! But only you! No one else" he said and I smile, feeling special. In less than thirty minutes of being at the mall, I've made two friends. Sure, there both boys but I'm sure Logan won't mind.

"Samantha!" I hear my sister call out. "Madison!" I scream back and laugh. I wave for Jay and Jax to come with me. They follow behind me and I head toward where Madison is standing.

"Hey Mads, this is Jackson and Jalen" I introduce them. She smiled and threw an arm over my shoulder. "Okay, so which one are you dating?" She asked. "Uh, neither," I say and roll my eyes.

"Still hung up on that Logan kid? Two words, Catfish" she said, landing a hand on her hip. "Uh, Mads? Catfish is one word. And he is not catfishing me. He promised me" I say and she rolls her eyes. "Whatever Sam, find some shoes and let's get the fu-"

"Watch it, Mads! You once put your whole allowance in the swear jar" I say knowing that the jar is just an excuse for our parents to not give us money.

"I've found them. Those white and rose gold Adidas in Foot Locker" I say pointing at them. I ask for my size and go up to pay.

"Sorry, the card has been declined." The store clerk said. "This has to be a mistake, Dad just-"

Me:
Hello?

Dad:
Sammy, hon...

Me:
You only call me Sammy when there is something wrong, what's wrong?

Dad:
Our bank accounts have been frozen with absolutely no entrance. I'm afraid we can't get your shoes-

Me:
That's totally okay Dad, it's fine.

Dad:
Let me finish. I'm afraid we can't get your shoes because... We've gone completely broke...

Me:
There has to be a way! Dad, we can't be! We just can't be...

Dad:
Come home and we can discuss this.

Me:
O-Okay.

...

"Do I have to go?" I ask my dad. "Yes, Sam. Don't let this little set back hold your education hostage" he smiled. It was forced, but he was trying.

"We have no food, dad! The restaurant is getting shut down because we can't pay the rent! We can't wash because it'll run up the water bill. There's no cable, no WiFi, our phones are off, the house is a hell pit cause the ac runs up the electricity, DAD! This is NOT a little set back" I cry. My dads' eyes become pools.

"Get ready, Sammy, we leave in 15" he said. My closet consists of 6 pairs of pants, 12 shirts, and my Vans. I pick out my black pants with holes and my "Ketchup up when you mustard up the courage" graphic tee.

I get in the car and rest my head lazily on the window. We drove off.

...

"You just wore that shirt the day before yesterday. Samantha, take my advice and get a fu*king life. Honestly!?" A girl says.

(***)

"My Family is going through a rough time. I'm making the best out of what I got" I say.

"But Madison dresses and looks good. You on the other hand... Wait? There's nothing to say. You're legit trash!"

(Bell Rings)

"Outta my way you fu*king loser," the girl says as she pushes me against the locker. My head hits first and my last 3 dollars fall out of my pocket. A random boy walks past and picks it up.

I slide down the locker. "Hopefully, this sh*tty situation can end soon," I say. I know there just bullies but I can't help that I've been put in such a sh*tty situation! Hell! If I could change the future, maybe I wouldn't be getting talked about for wearing the shirt I had on.

And on top of that, I have no way to text Logan or Jalen...
