"Let's call him...Chazz."

The woman cradled the gray-eyed baby in her arms, cooing lovingly. The man next to her smiled.

"Yes. His name is Chazz. Chazz Manjoume Princeton."

Two boys, ten and eleven, crawled onto the bed to see what their little brother looked like. One wrinkled his nose. "He looks like something that crawled out of a sewer."

"Slade!" his parents scolded.

The other boy, Jagger, said nothing, only watched Slade grimace. He knew what his older brother was thinking. Chazz would get all the attention since he was the new baby. Jagger and Slade would be quickly forgotten.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The car pulled out of the parking lot, with the father driving, Jagger riding shotgun, Slade in the back right, and the mother in the back left, cradling Chazz.

Peace fell upon the family. Suddenly, Chazz's eyes shot open and he screamed. It was a horrible, high-pitched scream that resonated throughout the car.

"Father!" Jagger yelled. An ambulance was careening towards the car. Before anyone could react, the vehicle slammed into the right side of the car, sending it through a brick wall.

Chazz's mother had enough time to turn and shield her baby son before the glass of the window broke and pierced her head and neck. She died instantly.

Mr. Princeton wasn't as lucky. The bricks broke his spine, causing immediate internal bleeding. Jagger screamed and covered his face.

When the dust had cleared, four people were breathing.

One, not for much longer.

"J-Jagger..." his father choked out. "Slade will try and take over Princeton Corp. Don't let him. Protect Chazz, please. He's the one who's destined to do great things."

Jagger nodded, fear in his ten-year-old eyes. "Father, don't go! I can't lose you."

Too late. Both his parents were gone.

"Mother!" Slade cried, shoving at the woman's arms. They fell limply open, revealing the baby she had protected. Slade's eyes narrowed. Chazz was looking up at him in fear.

Alive.

"You," Slade hissed. "It's your fault she's dead. She just had to protect you."

Chazz whimpered, then wailed.

"SHUT UP!" Slade screamed, drawing a hand back. Jagger caught his arm and threw his brother to the side, then gently picked up the screaming baby.

"Shh, shh, it's okay, Chazz. You're gonna be fine!"

He turned to Slade. "We're all gonna be fine."

Slade nodded with no emotion.
