Three years later

Chazz stood at the door of the cryogenics unit, ear pressed to the metal. Slade's voice echoed, "What do you mean, you can't do anything more?"

"I mean, there's no way for your parents to survive. Our power outage yesterday caused certain pods to shut down. Your parents' just happened to be in that category. I'm sorry."

The spiky-haired boy sank to the ground, tears wetting his cheeks. A mother he had never known had given her life to protect him. His father had done nothing wrong, except not pay attention to the road.

"As the eldest child, you own Princeton Corp at this time. At least, you will until your brother turns eighteen."

"What? Why does the company go to Jagger?"

An exasperated sigh echoed through the door. "Not Jagger, the company will go to Chazz."

"Okay, that's it! You're not my lawyer, and that's who I'll need to hear this from!"

The door burst open, sending Chazz flying across the room. Slade glared at him. "Hasn't anyone taught you to not eavesdrop?"

Chazz scrambled to his feet, tearing across the room. He burst into the sunlight and down the street.

BEEP BEEP!

A car was right behind Chazz! He tried to scramble to the side, but someone grabbed him and yanked him out of the way.

"Are you all right? Are you lost?"

Chazz glanced up. A man with short brown hair and circular glasses perched on his nose was staring at him, concerned. (picture above)

"Y-Yeah, fine.." Chazz whimpered.

The man studied him quizzically, then pulled something out of his pocket and held it out.

"Here. I have a feeling this belongs with you."

Before Chazz could react, the man stood and walked off, smiling.

The young boy began to walk back to the clinic, staring at the card in his hand.

Light and Darkness Dragon?

------------------------------------------------

The funeral wasn't one Chazz would remember. It was all fake tears on Slade's part, real tears on his and Jagger's part, and a lot of people coming up to them and hugging them, or patting their heads, and other stuff like that.

He more remembered what happened after it was over.

Slade took Chazz down to their basement and into a room that was barely more than a cell. It had a simple twin bed with white sheets, a wooden chair and desk- and a table in the corner that had crude metal shackles secured to it.

"This is your new room," Slade explained. "I hope you like it."

His tone told Chazz that he didn't mean that he wanted Chazz to like it, it just meant, "You're a loser."

Slade shoved Chazz into the room and shut the door, which was made entirely of metal bars. "Jagger will bring you supper."

Chazz curled up in a ball on the stone floor and cried.
