The next day, Victoria is already in school, while Mariá is at home trying to get things ready for Krook's trip. Emilia is out with her long time friend, Adaline Crystal at a coffee shop there in California.

Adaline: So fill me in, how are things at the mansion?
Emilia: It's alright. Nothing I can't handle.
Adaline: That's good to know. What about your step daughter?
Emilia: Oh that brat, she's alright. Still the same spoilt bitch. Can you believe she yelled at me?
Adaline: Shut up! Are you serious?
Emilia: Swears
Adaline: What nerve! No need to tell me, I know you showed her who is boss.
Emilia: No, no. I apologised and walked out.
Adaline: Were you sedated? I mean the Emilia I know wouldn't take that. Even your mum can't talk to you like that.
Emilia: My thoughts exactly. I had to play it cool. Her dad is around. I know better than to hurt his girl. He may as well just throw me out.
Adaline: So you are going to let that little girl control you?
Emilia: Of course not. Don't even say that.(she looks at her angrily)
Adaline: Sorry. I'm just trying to understand
Emilia: Well, I have a plan.
Adaline: Well? Tell me!
Emilia: Woah, slow down missy. You should know me by now, I don't share my plans. All I can say is that they both made this pact or whatever...

*Adaline interrupts*

Adaline: Wait who made a pact?
Emilia: Fin and his daughter! Jeez, keep up.
Adaline: Right, sorry. You were saying?
Emilia: Yes, they made a promise to do anything for each other and Victoria listens to her father. He asked her to obey me. Now that my dear, is a window to many opportunities.
Adaline: I must admit, I'm pretty lost.
Emilia: It's alright, you don't have to understand. A toast, (she raises her cup of coffee). To what is to come.
Adaline: To what is to come.

*They toast and sip from coffee*

Emilia: (looks a watch) Ou! I have to go. Fin wants us to spend time together before he leaves. (making hand gestures)
Adaline: (laughs) Alright honey. Good luck. I'll see you soon.
Emilia: Thanks honey, I'll need it. Yeah, see you soon.

At school, Victoria is on her way to the school's counsellor's office. Ms Evergreen has become fond of Vicky and looks forward to their sessions.

*Victoria enters the office*

Victoria: Good morning Ms.
Ms Evergreen: Victoria, good morning. I wasn't expecting you this morning. Aren't you suppose to be in class?
Victoria: It's a free period Ms.
Ms Evergreen: Alright. Take a seat. How are you? and how's everything at home?
Victoria: (seats) Well, I'm okay. Everything is fine.
Ms Evergreen: That's great. So what brought you here today? Surely it's not to spend time with boring, old Ms Evergreen.
Victoria: (laughs) You're not boring or that old and I love spending time with you.
Ms Evergreen: Hold up, did you say 'that old'? I am in my late 30s. I am anything but old.
Victoria: (laughs) Alright 'ma'am'. If you say so.
Ms Evergreen: Okay, you did that one on purpose.
Victoria: (laughs) What?
Ms Evergreen: You called me ma'am, Don't play dumb!
Victoria: Did I now....?

*Both laughs*

Ms Evergreen: Now that you're all smiles, can you tell me why you are really here?
Victoria: Well if you must know, I'm a bit worried about being alone with Emilia. My dad will be travelling tomorrow.
Ms Evergreen: Why so soon?
Victoria: I don't know, he says it's important he goes on time. He's a big part of the organisation and must show punctuality and discipline for others to emulate. His words, not mine.
Ms Evergreens: That's reasonable. So what exactly worries you about being alone with Ms Emilia? Has she done anything wrong?
Victoria: No, not really. Just a bad feeling.
Ms Evergreen: Do you think you may just be a bit paranoid? I mean, she seems to mind her own business. She's only trying to get close to you.
Victoria: Don't pick her side.
Ms Evergreen: I'm not. I'm just trying to be reasonable

*Bell rings*

Victoria: That's for me. I've gat to go. And you're right, I should give the old hag a chance. Thanks Ms Evergreen.
Ms Evergreen: Don't ever call her that. You're welcome. See you next time.
Victoria: Alright, bye.
Ms Evergreen: Bye dear.

*She shuts the door as she steps out*

The next day, Victoria came home from school pretty late only to discover her dad was already on a flight. She tried to call Mariá but didn't get a response. Emilia walks in.

Victoria: Why did my dad leave without saying good bye and where is Mariá?
Emilia: Take it easy dear. One question at a time. And that is no way to talk to your mommy, so if you need answers, ask politely adding mommy to the end of the question.

*After much hesitation, she finally asks*

Victoria: Why did my father leave without seeing me and where is Mariá mommy?
Emilia: See, that wasn't so hard. Well, your dad tried waiting for you but had to run off as his flight was about to take off. He really wanted to see you before he left. How pathetic. And as for Mariá, she's been dismissed. She no longer works here. I couldn't stand one more second of her ridiculous accent and poor english. It looks like it's going to be just me and you for the rest couple of weeks.

*She says with a smile*
