Day 1
"So are you ready to go fishing son?" My father was obviously was a few French fries short of a happy meal. Of course he knew I wanted to go fishing today. It was going to be my first time ever!
"Yeah! When can we leave?" I was ecstatic. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but hopefully it would be some time with dad. It's not like I wanted to get away from anyone, well... that is if anyone lived with us.
You see my mother died when I was born. I blame myself for that. My father tried to tell me it wasn't, but in the end he told me to pray to god and maybe she would hear me. Lets just say that I prayed everyday and more than once.
"We can leave now. I have the stuff already packed." My dad was a genius. Already ready to go? No way! I couldn't believe it. I knew I just had to run outside and check the car. Sure enough it was packed.
My dad didn't have to tell me to get in; I was already there with my seatbelt on. He got in a second later and gave me something warm to eat. "Mmm... Shanks fur sa dounut dad." I knew he understood me, and I kept eating.
We pulled out of the garage, hit the main road, and got on the highway.
We...
Wait...
Highway? Since when did we take the highway to go to the lake? It was just a walk away. Come to think of it when did we own a car? They were too expensive for us in this day and age.
I turned to look at my dad and he was no longer there. No one was driving the car! I couldn't undo my seatbelt, I was stuck! Just when things couldn't get any worse I was heading for the highway railing. The car smashed right through it and headed for the water below. The car hit the water and sank.
I still couldn't get the seat belt off. I knew I was going to drown. Just as I thought I was going to pass I heard a voice, "Shadow." It vaguely sounded familiar, though I didn't know from where. "Shadow... It's not your time yet." I couldn't speak back to the voice since I was too stunned and suddenly passed out.
"Shadow... Shadow..."
"MR. SHADOW! WAKE UP!" I was immediately woken up by extremely cold water hitting my naked body. The mercenary in me took immediate action. Although I couldn't do much, hell I couldn't even move. A quick look made me realize that my legs and arms were tied to a chair and the chair to a device.
I made note of my surroundings and found myself in a room with only one light, it was currently hanging above me. In front of me there was a table with a chair on the other side. I couldn't really see past that since the light shining above me protected anything in the shadows, lucky bastards. The only presence of someone actually in the room was the shadow that had splashed the water on me.
"Good morning Mr. Shadow, sleep well?" A male voice sounded pleased with what he had done. I couldn't tell who it was, but it definitely wasn't the echidna or Sonic.
"Yeah, up until the cold shower."
I heard footsteps from my right moving away from me. They were headed towards the table. The figure that had been talking to me sat down in a chair across from me and wiped up the water on the table. He looked vaguely familiar. In fact if I didn't know any better he looked like...
"Silver," I hissed.
The figure looked up and smiled. "Actually..." The Colonel supposedly named Silver then took off the makeshift mask he had on to reveal his true complexion of being a lot younger. "My name is in fact really Silver. And I'm not a retired colonel either. I'm from the Secret Service." I had no idea why the Secret Service would do that. Why would they go through so much trouble to get me here?
