(I thought this song worked with the chapter. Should I do more of these?)
After your... incident in the morning, you and Shayne hadn't talked. Joven tried to talk to you about it, but you weren't in the mood, since it was his fault anyway. When you had to to stand up comedy for the hot pepper challenge, you saw a small smirk from Shayne, but it went away quickly when he saw you look at him.
When Shayne asked you that morning if you loved him, you couldn't respond. Everything happened so quickly. You had tried to respond, but you choked. The words couldn't come out. Of course you loved Shayne, it was obvious. But you couldn't say it in words at the time you needed it most.
Right now, you were laying in bed, thinking about this morning, and the days before. You knew you couldn't beat yourself up for not being able to speak, not having your voice was out of your control.
You sighed. No use just laying here and letting your thoughts slowly eat away at your sanity. You got up and wandered outside. It was a little chilly, so you brought a sweater with you. You walked in the direction of the scissortree. It would only remind you of the walk you had with Shayne, but it was also the only way you knew you wouldn't get lost in.
You just listened to the crunch of the stones under your feet until you stopped at the tree. You looked up at the branches swaying in the wind. You decided to climb it. The branches rustled again. Someone else was in the tree.
Shayne.
"I um- didn't realize anyone else would be here." You said awkwardly. He replied with a simple 'Hm.' You sat on the other side of the tree, away from him. There was an awkward silence. You heard Shayne sigh. "Do you love me?" He asked again. "O-of course." "Why didn't you say it earlier today?" You could tell all of his hostility had disappeared. You sighed. "I choked. Funny how when I really needed to say it, the words wouldn't come out."
"Really?" He said. You now realized he had moved to the branch next to you. You looked him in the eyes. "Yeah." He smiled. You missed that smile. "So, what's the story between you and Joven? How did it start?" "Well," You started. "He originally wanted to kiss me once, when we first got here. He'd said that would be the only time, so I did it. But he ended up wanting to do it every day." "Why did you keep doing it?" "I'm not sure. Maybe it was more than I kiss. Even though I had to push Joven off every time, I was never entirely done kissing him. I guess I had feelings for him that I hadn't known about." I saw the hurt in Shayne's eyes. "That doesn't mean I don't love you, too. I guess I was drawn to Joven because he was giving me more... attention. And today, when he said he loved me for me. I've never had that before. Most of my other relationships were because someone wanted me for how I looked, and I was sick of it."
"Do you think I've been hanging out with you because I thought you looked nice?" He asked, glancing at me. "I guess not. I hadn't really looked into it that way." "Good. Because I can assure you," he said, intertwining his fingers with mine. "That's not the reason. You're different. A good different. I liked Courtney before you came here. I stopped liking her that way because of the contract. Do you think it will get in the way of us?" "We'll figure it out." I said, leaning my head on his shoulder. "Does that mean you'll be my girlfriend?"
"Of course."
The End
(A/n)
Woot. What a fluffy resolution.
Unfortunately, this means the story is over. This is my first full book, and let me tell you, I will be lost without writing this book. It's come so far. It's like the child that I'll never have, walking out the door, and driving off to college to do its own thing ad have its own life.
