Looking Over the Horizon ...

To one it may sound like a mere phrase ,
Something that gives hope to the happy days ,
They say there's more to look over to the other-side ,
The grass is greener on the other side ,
We look to hope without our pride ,
The hurt inside me may have once cried,
But yet , we know , we still need to hope ,
Because that's something that keeps us alive ...

Hope is a word too simple to look at ,
It means " waiting for something to happen " ,
Waiting for that ' one golden opportunity '  that ' one ray ' , that shows us our path , our way ,
And makes our lives easier ...

Let's say the girl you once spoke to ,
She may have had some dreams ,
Or  the boy , you once spoke to ,
He must be playing video games in his bedroom , but why ?
Why should I look at reasons that show me nothing about reality ,
Is the dream the girls reality ,
Is it how she 'feels' ?
Insecure to move because of those huge hips, 
Or the boy , who finds it tough to fit in with other guys ...

Or Someone , who is completely insecure about her looks , her hair , her skin ,
her origin , she finds it difficult to fit in ,
Yet she looks over the Horizon ,
She hopes for things to fall in place ,
Even though her past kills her ,
Anxiety chokes her leaving her completely lifeless ,
As if she doesn't matter ....

Have you noticed that girl ,
She writes suicide notes on benches ,
As jokes to be reffered to as ' horror stories' ,
Or have you seen that girl , she's scared,
To walk down the hallways of her college
Because of the anxiety attack that is waiting to happen ,
Or that girl , who doesn't look innocent ,
But in reality is ,
She's clearly depressed ,
And yes it is a bad thing

And to add to it , everyone underestimating her for her intelligence, 
Because the quote says "beauty with brains " ,
And we need to live up to the standards of society , don't we ?
But according to society ,
We need to say,  yes to yes and
No to no ,
Because we are fools and
We don't have brains...

We listen to society and  obey its commands ,
Girl for pink , boy for blue ,
Fair acceptable but no other hue, 
Work hard is no longer the trend ,
Rather cheat it's easier with friends ,
Listen to me says society ;
For a person once , spoke out rules ,
Like a fictional book , and is now being followed in reality ,
And so puts down all girls ,
Not because they're Goddesses and should be treated with care ,
But because they are not strong enough and are clearly not treated fair ,
But there's hope , there's hope ,
there's hope somewhere ....

And that someone has broken all rules ,
Worked hard and priced herself that she is capable of everything , that she doesn't need gender - stereotypes and she can walk alone , without someone being there for her ...

She has dreams , she lives them, 
And she keeps looking over the Horizon !

( this is a performance poetry that i performed today , I didn't do well cuz I forgot my lines but everyone did like it so well , decided to put it up ..... 😄)
