For the most part, I always had my friends. My best friend was Michelle. Michelle had this heart of gold for people until she heard the good news around school. She lived for gossip, always trying to get me into it. I didn't like talking or hearing gossip about anyone. I know how it can affect a person so I stay away from it.
Let me tell you more about Michelle. Michelle is a sophomore in high school. We have always had every class together. She's smart and sweet. But if you hurt her she can end your life. Literally. I have known Michelle my whole life. When I first moved into the neighborhood in kindergarten she became my first friend. Ever since then we have been inseparable. She was my shoulder to cry on, rant to, and talk about anything with. We always hung out and spent nights talking about our future. I loved Michelle. She was the greatest friend anyone could have, up to high school.
High school started and I noticed she changed slightly. It didn't bother me everyone changes in high school, so why did it matter? But it wasn't just her changing her wardrobe, she was changing her whole personality.
Michelle went from being the nicest girl in town to the bitchiest of them all. All because of popularity. Popularity ruined our friendship, Michelle started to be someone she isn't. We slowly stopped hanging out, talking, saying 'hi' in the hallways. It came to the point where it was like she didn't know me anymore. She wasn't the Michelle I knew anymore.
