“So, Haku…” I went off, whistling nervously.

Traveling from one camp site to another for over a week would normally give someone like me a chance to get to know someone; but Haku is like a fucking brick. The guy literally has not said one casual word to me since I met him. Zabuza kept insisting that I didn’t have to be friendly with him; but it’s kind of rude not to.

I was raised better than that.

We had slowed down, the Leaf ninja been lead off our trail quite a ways back.

I had my hand entwined with Zabuza’s, Haku walking a few feet ahead of us.

His head turned a bit, the creepy mask still on his face.

“What is it?” he answered politely.

“Uh… what’s up?”

“… I’m sorry?”

“…You are literally the hardest person to talk to, oh my god.” I mumbled.

Zabuza chuckled deeply beside me, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.

“I’m sorry, Lady Lucy. I’m just trying to stay alert.”

I sighed.

“Yeah, I get that… sorry don’t let me distract you.”

Zabuza brought my hand up to kiss my knuckles through his mask. I pouted up to him.

“Don’t worry, my love. Only a few more days of this and then we’ll be back home and we can start training. Sound good?” he said, smiling through his mask.

I nodded, smirking.

“As long as you don’t mind getting your ass handed to you by a girl.” I giggled.

He rolled his eyes, giving my hand another squeeze, but tighter.

Suddenly, Haku stopped, head perking up in alert.

“What’s wrong, Haku?” Zabuza asked, voice intimidating.

I shrunk back a bit, hating the way he has to scare Haku all the time. But Haku faced him, his posture not backing off a bit. He must be used to Zabuza’s behavior… I’m definitely not.

“It seems we’ve been found, Lord Zabuza. There are Leaf Nin coming at us from the left and behind us. At least five.”

Zabuza cursed, letting go of my hand and looking back towards the direction Haku had pointed in.

“Looks like it’s time for you to shine, Lucy.”

I swallowed hard, realizing what he means; he needs me to fight. But what if those ninja are my teammates? I can’t hurt them; I could never.

Suddenly, I sensed them as well, my heart rate picking up as adrenaline pumped through my veins.

I shut my eyes, concentrating on the image of my identical sister, standing stark naked in her theater. She appeared, arms crossed and head cocked in curiosity.   

~What do I owe this honor? ~

I knew she was still bitter about me following Zabuza; but I still winced when her attitude seeped through.

‘Sister… I know you’re upset with me-‘

~Damn straight I am. This man is manipulating you, Lucy.~

I shook my head, keeping my eyes closed.

‘No… you know as well as I do that if he was lying to me, I’d be able to tell the difference. I need your help Lucille. I need… I need you to come out’
