After Breakfast

A very tired Bruce came down the steps carrying two car seats with the twins in them.

"I don't know how Elissa did this." He said.

"Maternal instinct master Bruce." Alfred said.

"What's matewnay(maternal) inthtinct(instinct)?" Claire asked, she was sitting on the floor coloring.

"Like when mommy always knew what you wanted." Bruce explained.

"Otay(okay)," she said going back to her coloring book. The door opened and Dick came in with a young woman who had black hair and blue eyes wrapped around his arm.

"Hi Bruce." she said.

"Hi Karen." he replied giving her a smile.

"Hey Bruce." Dick said. Claire looked up at them. Dick got down to her level and Claire ran into his arms.

"Bid(big) bwothew(brother)!" she squealed happily.

"Is Jay coming by this Christmas? He has a new daughter, right? Him and Laila." Dick asked.

"I invited him." Bruce replied.

"How is single parenthood? Going on two weeks since..." Karen trailed off.

"You can say Elissa died." he said.

"Sorry." she said.

"It's okay." Bruce said looking sad.

"How are my youngest siblings?" Dick asked changing the subject and setting Claire down. Bruce set down the car seats, Dick picked up Jacob, Bruce picked up Charlotte, and Karen started playing with Claire.

"Dick can I talk to you in private?" Bruce asked.

"Sure." he replied. They went into the office and shut the door.

"Claire said something about being afraid that the monsters would take me away." he said.

"So?" Dick asked, "Normal child fears for someone who just lost their parent."

"I don't know how to be a single dad." Bruce said.

"You did fine with me." he said.

"They are so much younger than you were." he pointed out.

"Come on, you have to feel the aster. One more minute and Claire would have been in the car joining her." Dick said.

"I know." Bruce sighed.

"Come on the ladies and Alfred will be wondering where we went." he said and they left.

"Hey Bruce when is the Christmas charity ball?" Karen asked when the boys came back.

"Tomorrow night in the ballroom." he answered.

"Do I habe(have) to do(go)?" Claire asked. Dick chuckled.

"You really are my little sister, aren't you?" he asked with a grin on his face.

"Justice opted out again this year." Bruce said.

"Can you blame her?" Karen asked.

"No but ever since her husband went missing she's been avoiding me." he said.

"She isn't avoiding you." Dick said.

"Justice won't answer any of my calls or emails and I haven't seen or heard from her in over a year." Bruce said.

"Okay she's avoiding you." he admitted.

"Is Uncye(uncle) Cyawk(Clark) coming?" Claire asked.

"Uncle Clark and Uncle Oliver and Aunt Dinah, the whole lot of them. Maybe even Uncle Hal." Bruce said.

"Yay!" she squealed. They all chuckled.

"So, are you quitting your night job Bruce?" Karen asked.

"I'm going to have too until the kids are at least seven or eight." Bruce replied.

"Well who will take care of Gotham?" Dick asked.

"I'm sure your siblings can handle it." he answered looking down at Charlotte.

"I'm sure." Dick said.

"We should probably get ready for tomorrow night and get our room set up." Karen said.

"Thatsounds like a good plan." he said going to the car to get their bags
