A few hours later

Everyone was gathered outside of Wayne Manor. Maya had bought a picnic table and a playset for the kids. They had the twins in high chairs and Claire was on Bruce's lap. Maya was holding Vivien on her lap. Dick had his twins Ella and Aaron in car seats next to him. Justice was trying to wrangle Eliza and Leo. Jason was trying to figure out why Anna was crying. Stephanie and Liam were having a silent argument. Tim and Toni were cuddling on the bench. Cassandra was trying awkwardly to help Justice. Carly and Damien were talking at the picnic table. Barbara and Jim were talking to Clark. Diana, Dinah, Oliver, Barry, Iris, and Alfred were helping to finish up.

Everybody gathered around Charlotte, Jacob, and Claire. Bruce smiled as the twins smashed into their mini cakes and Claire giggled. Then Claire blew out her candles and they all ate cake and ice cream. After that they opened presents.

"Jason do you really think it is appropriate to get Claire a toy gun?" Bruce asked.

"Yes." he answered smiling, "I also got her a little motorcycle ride-on."

"With a little biker helmet." Bruce said.

"Yup." Jason said. After all the presents were opened the kids ran and played until it was time to leave or time for bed.

Bruce tucked Claire into her bed.

"Daddy." she said.

"Yeah princess." he said.

"You're still a hero to me." Claire said. Bruce smiled.

"Goodnight." he said kissing her on the top of the head.

"Goodnight." she yawned and rolled over in her bed.

"I love you." Bruce said before turning out the light.

"I love you too." Claire said.

Bruce kissed both Jacob and Charlotte goodnight. Jim walked in behind him.

"I'm heading out Bruce. It's been hard without The Batman's help. Although I can't blame you." he said.

"I miss it sometimes but they need me more here." he replied.

"Well you're doing an amazing job." Jim said.

"Thank you, Jim." Bruce said.

"I'll see you soon." he said heading out.

"See you soon." Bruce echoed before leaving to go to bed.

A few months later

Claire woke up with a soft groan.

"Daddy!" she called. Bruce ran into Claire's room and leaned down next to her.

"I don't feel so good." she said coughing. Bruce set his hand on her forehead.

"You're burning up sweetheart. Let's get you down to the cave." he said picking her up and walking out of the door. When the got to the med bay in the cave Bruce softly set Claire on the bed and took her temperature.

"102." Bruce muttered, "I'm not going to the office today."

"I'll be fine daddy." she said.

"I'm staying." he insisted. Claire had a twinge of guilt in her eyes that intensified when she doubled over and threw up on Bruce's shoes.

"Looks like the stomach flu." Bruce sighed.

"Sorry." she said quietly.

"No need to apologize princess." he said softly rubbing her back. Alfred walked in and raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe Miss Claire should go to the screening room." he suggested.

"Good idea Alfred." Bruce said.

"Can I watch Young Justice?" she asked, "The characters seem so familiar."

"You can watch whatever you want." he said. Alfred took Claire to the screening room because Bruce had to change. Claire snuggled up on the couch shivering. Alfred got a blanket and tossed it over her. She smiled and let her eyes close to Bereft (The amnesia episode).

Claire opened her eyes a few hours later and looked over at her dad who had fallen asleep in the chair that resided next to the couch. She giggled and pulled off her blankets. Claire softly stood up and the room swayed slightly. She sat back down.

"Alfred!" Claire called. He walked in immediately after the words left the small child's mouth.

"Yes, Miss Claire?" Alfred inquired with a small smile.

"Can I have Ginger Ale, and a bucket?" Claire asked.

"Right away Miss Claire." he said before leaving. She laid back down and stared at the ceiling. Alfred came back and set the bucket down just in time. Claire wretched into it and took a sip of the Ginger Ale. Bruce sat up and walked over to Claire. Softly pushing her sweaty hair back and sighing.

"Alfred could get some saltines and get Cass to watch the twins. I don't want them catching this and see if Damien can stay at Carly's." Bruce said.

"The twins are already with Cass and I believe Damien and Carly are already together, the boy is quite fond of her." Alfred replied leaving to get the saltines.

"What about you daddy?" Claire asked.

"No worries." Bruce said kissing his daughter's forehead.

"I'm going to be okay, right?" Claire asked.

"Of course, princess." he said, "It's only the flu." Bruce sat with Claire on his lap and they continued watching Young Justice together, something about the characters. They spent the whole day in the screening room, at some point they switched to Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes but they never really moved from the couch. Claire got sick almost every hour, like clockwork. It was finally time for bed and Bruce allowed Claire to sleep in his bed with him. Cassandra still watching the twins.

It took about a week but Claire was seemingly getting better. She was running around more and just going back to the happy little girl she had always been. Alfred told Bruce that he handled the situation exactly right but really needed to get a nanny. This was an ongoing argument between the two of them that seemed to amuse everybody else in the family. Claire sadly passed the sickness onto Damien and a few other bat family members. Well except for Bruce and Alfred which was highly ironic.
