Victoria Santily

I watched my father intently as he paced back and forwards around the house, throwing his things into bags. My mouth opened couple of times, as I tried to formulate the question, but the confusion muted me each time.

Suddenly my father froze and his eyes focused on me. He wiped the sweat of his forehead, before he yelled: "Why the fuck are you just sitting there?! Pack your shit, we have to leave in ten minutes!" I flinched at his tone, but quickly jumped up grabbing a random bag, before randomly stuffing my things in it.

I didn't know what was happening, but I learned hard way not to question my father in stressful situations and just obey his commands without any questions or hesitation.

After 'packing' everything I might need, I zipped up my bag and swiftly threw it over my shoulder. "Go to the car." My father muttered, his voice shaky and his breath heavy. Droplets of sweat were dropping of his forehead, as we were running to the car.

I quickly jumped into the passenger seat, while my father got into the drivers seat. He didn't bother to buckle up and we speeded out of the parking lot of our condo.

The car ride was silent and I didn't bother trying to get any information out of my father, because it was useless. He was stressed and it was putting stress on me.

Out of nowhere I realised where we were going. We were 20 kilometers away from the Mexican border and thats when I relised the seriouseness of this situation. My eyes widened, my heart rate quickened and I felt myself struggling to breathe.

I looked at the rear view mirror, just to see a single black range rover following us. Suddenly one of the men in the car poked the gun out of the window and begun firing at our car. I bit back the scream and glued my eyes shut.

We are going to die.

"Get Down!" My father yelled through the gun shots and I did just that. I was smart enough to know he was better at dealing with situations like this one.

I felt my father's car swerve and that's when I was sure we were going to die, so I lifted my head up just to see that we were surrounded by four black range rovers. My father stepped on the break causing my head to fly forward.

Four men came out of each car and I felt tears blur my vision. I didn't want to die, not now, I was only 18, I haven't even finished school yet. I shivered at the thought of death and swallowed my tears, while watching the me surround our car.

"Paul Santily please exit your car." A stern voice could be heard from outside. My body stiffened, and I watched my father's every move. He breathed heavily and his whole body shook with fear. I have never seen father this way, he was truly scared for his life.

"I repeat! Paul Fucking Santily exit the damn car before I shoot you through the front window!" The same voice yelled, making me gulp. Here it was, death slowly creeping upon me.

Slowly my father reached for the door handle, popping it open and exiting the car. My body ached, from how tense all my muscles were. I didn't dare move just incase they see me and I didn't dare breathe just incase they hear me. I know I was being ridiculous, but I couldn't help it.

"Vincenzo ma-" my father was imidiatly cut off, by the punch being frown at his jaw. Causing him to fall to the floor and one of the men placed his foot on father face preventing him from getting up.

This couldn't be... this couldn't be the man I knew from the stories that went around.

"Money Paul, where are my ninety nine million dollars!? I gave you a fucking month because you promised you will pay it back. I don't like liars. But do you know who I hate more than liars?" Vincenzo asked and I gulped. This man was truly intimidating.
"N-o." Father struggled to say due to the foot on his face.
"More than liars I hate fucking cowards and you, piece of shit of a man, tried to fucking flee." He spat each word with more distaste than the previous.

"Paul man," he said mocking my father. "I don't need to tell what happens now do I?" He questioned pointing the gun at my father's head. I yelped in shock, before quickly placing a hand over my mouth.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I cursed myself.

"Boss I think there is someone else in the car..." one of the men said looking at Vincenzo and then back at me.

He slowly lowered his gun and looked straight at me and then back at my dad, before abandoning him and making his way towards the car.

"Please don't kill me..." I prayed silently, as the car door was ripped opened and my mouth glued shut in fear. "Well hello, sweets." He greeted me, with a playful glint in his eyes.

My body was shaking, as he grabbed my elow and dragged me roughly towards my father.

"Get him up." Vincenzo commanded, the man who held my father on the ground.

When my father was up on his feet, I took my time to examine him. His face was bloody on one side and had a dirty boot print on the other.

"So tell me Paul, who might this beautiful lady right here be?" He asked, and my father looked me up and down with distaste. "Victoria, she is my daughter." He said simply. I knew he wasn't going to beg for my life, but I hoped maybe simple: 'leave her out of this' would leave his mouth. But it didn't.

"Well she's indeed beautiful. How about we make a deal?" He asked and I watched my father's eyes spark with interest. "I'll have the girl and in return you get your life." Vincenzo suggested.

My jaw dropped.

He could not have been serious. I saw my father's eyes scan me up and down again, before he simply shrugged and muttered: "you can have her." I choked on air and all the men around me looked at him in disgust, one even muttered: "coward" somewhere in the crowd, causing elijah to give him pointed look.

"Enough gentleman!" Vincenzo ordered and motioned for everyone to get in their cars while he dragged me towards his one. I attamoted to get out if his hold, buy it was useless. "Let me go!" I screamed as I kicked and punched, but that didn't seem to phase him.

"You can't do that!" I yelled attempting to escape his hold.
"Watch me." He spat and shut the car door and carried on dragging me towards the lack vehicle.
